A blue-and-white beanie for a friend

I delivered this blue-and-white beanie while we were out yesterday. An endurance rider saw the pink beanie I’d made for another rider and said she’d love a blue-and-white one. I was able to get the wool on special and I didn’t charge her making it. Luckily, it was a good fit. I knew the size of the pink one and knew it had to be bigger than that so fortunately it fitted well. She said she would spread the word so maybe I’ll have more to crochet in the near future. I used a fancier stitch with this one.

It's very nice. I'm glad it fits, and she'll spread the word. You'll be up to your eyeballs with beanie work.

@JudyEv It's good they don't take long to make. It's good to keep the fingers nimble.

@just4him I'm hoping it might help stave off arthritis at least.

They don't like long to do and I like having something to do with my hands.

That's nice. Our twins used to have them. I wondered where they put them.

I have several that I wear during the winter. They really do help keep your ears warm.

I like the stitch you used on this beanie, it looks so pretty and a good choice of colours also. You should get paid for what you do.

@JudyEv That's good, at least they pay for the wool and give you something extra for your good work.

I purchased the wool on special but maybe if I get a lot of orders I might start charging for them. They pay me for the wool and usually a bit extra so that's good.

I was really happy with how it turned out. Sometimes they aren't as soft as I'd like them but this one is nice and soft. It's hard to pick what is the best wool to use.

@JudyEv I understand. I'd never try to make clothing items because of the sizing factor. I always preferred making blankets and bedspreads.

@DaddyEvil There is a bit of leeway with beanies. Sometimes I ask for a circumference measurement which makes it easier.

It's a bit of a gamble sometimes to get the sizing right.

I've made dozens of tiny beanies for premature babies. These take a bit longer but I still like doing them.

Oh very nice! Is that something you can do while waiting for the riders to appear?

Now that I take photos I don't as I worry about the work getting grubby. I can do one quite easily in two or three evenings so I mostly do them at night if we watch a film or whatever.

Judy that's so cute. You do really nice work. I'm gonna start wearing these this winter. I remember last winter my ears were getting so cold to the point of hurting. And I was getting chills up my head. ^ Something like this will be perfect Nice job :)

The experts say you lose a lot of heat through your head so beanies are a good idea in winter. I wear mine a lot. Thanks for the kind words. It turned out really nicely.

So nice, I want to learn how to make things like this, or more specifically, I want to learn how to crochet, period. I love the handmade aspect, kind of like a homecooked meal as opposed to take-out. Just a couple of days ago I was looking on YouTube and telling myself that I'm finally going to commit to learning how to crochet (after more than a decade of not mastering it yet).
