Have you ever eaten the lower calorie ice cream?

I am talking Halo Top, Rebel or one of those..I had Halo Top in the past, which I thought was pretty good, and actually was looking more for a frozen yogurt or a double churned Breyers or something. I couldn't find either. That is the trouble with Food Lion.Smaller shelf and freezer space and not room for a lot of products. I bought the Halo Top instead..although I didn't want to pay 3.99 for a pint. However, what I really shouldn't have paid for was these cheese buns...which cost like twice the price of Entemanns..When I get a craving though..it is hard to stop. These buns better be the best thing since sliced bread though...or they will never pass my lips again. Any purchases recently you wish you hadnt made? What is your take on lower calorie ice cream?

This reminds me that months and months ago I bought something? Maybe Halo ice cream, had a spoonful and promptly had a stomach ache from the fake sweetener. That ice cream has been in the freezer ever since. I need to toss the stuff.

I like it personally. I think it tastes pretty close to real ice cream.

@sallypup Maybe it was all the real sugar stuff you have been eating for years. That causes inflammation big time you know..

I really don't care for ice cream, but I love banana pops and orange sherbet. I bought some cheddar cheese this week that just isn't good.

Have you had the orange sherbet and vanilla mixed? That is really good. I also like dreamsicles.

@1creekgirl They are so good. Food Lions generic ones are pretty tasty too. I always go through at least one box in the summer.

I am too wary of what they put in lower calorie ice cream to make it that way, so I just rarely eat ice cream.

I don't care about that kind of thing. It isn't like I am going to be eating it on a daily basis. You can make that ice cream out of bananas you know...It tastes very similar and is easy to make.

@snowy22315 I only care because I have to care (with my health history).

I had never tried it, but I do sometimes buy Breyers lactose free ice cream..not that it is low in calories.

I am not sure I would like that. I had lactose free milk once and it was horrible.

@RebeccasFarm I am sure it has improved over the years. I mean cool whip is non dairy and that is good.

I no longer eat regular ice- cream. If I want ice-cream I normally eat carb smart by Breyers.

Is that good? I saw that in the store. Also the no sugar Breyers. I wasn't too sure I would like either one. I do like the Halo Top though. They had another one Nick's ice cream that looked pretty similar.

I bought something from Food Lion early without paying attention to the label, Blue something---not Bell, and got Mike and I a dish. We both promptly got rid of it and Mike had me throw the rest of it away. It was a dairy free ice cream product, and it tasted like rubber. To know Mike, you know he really hated it because he will not throw food away. If he doesn't like something he'll doctor it so he can eat it. There was nothing to save that stuff. 32 years, almost, of marriage and that is the first thing he ever threw away.

Oh that lactose free stuff is nasty. I tried Lactaid milk once..back in the day..and it was yuk! Doesn't sound like if has improved. I bet you would like Halo Top.

@snowy22315 Mike has tried it, used coupons when we got it. He said it was alright. We both really like the Food Lion brand ice cream but for some reason they don't have it now. Breyers brand isn't what it once was so I won't buy it. I've been getting the cherry and lemon water ice cups.

I have a problem eating too much regular ice cream. If it is a flavor I really like I will eat much more than the intent.I do better with frozen yogurt or other reduced calorie ice creams..although in general, I haven't been buying much.

Frozen yogurt isn't bad. I get that sometimes in lieu of full fat ice cream.

I like this Halo Top.Here they sometimes sell double churned which is half the calories...I like that too.I was thinking of buying no sugar added, but that is something I would have to try first to see if I liked it.

@snowy22315 I like ice cream (with no toppings). I always keep vanilla ice cream in the freezer as it goes with some pies and it's great to make a "Caffé Cervino" (coffee, vanilla ice cream, a little whipped cream on the top - Cervino is a mountain).

I was eating a lot of lower calorie ice cream bars, popsicles and things of that ilk this summer that don't really have that many calories in them

@snowy22315 be careful, usually those products have artificial sweeters that is awful to your health.

We eat Breyers Lactose Free Ice Cream. That way I don't have to take dairy pills when I eat it. I've never tried a low-calorie ice cream. I could eat a whole half-gallon of ice cream in one sitting if I let myself!!! Have a good weekend.

Yeah, Breyers had no carb, no sugar...and I didn't see the dairy free variety..but if I was going to spend the money it had to be something I was pretty sure I was going to like.
