Sunny Monday

Happy Monday Everyone! it's a beautiful sunny morning here with bright blue skies. It's a wee bit chilly but should warm up as the day goes on. After a busy weekend, today is cleaning and laundry day. I stripped my bed and have the sheets in the wash. Instead of putting a different set on my bed I'm just going to put these back on when they're done in the dryer. Why get out a different set and then have to fold these and put them away I don't know why my house always seems to need dusting. Maybe the filter needs changing on the furnace even though it gets changed fairly often. Anyway, dusting is on my list too. I started reading a book that I've had for quite awhile. I see people raving about it on some of the book club sites I belong to so I got it. The reason I've procrastinated reading it is the cover. The cover is not appealing at all and I find that I'm drawn to books with a nice cover. However, the plot is interesting so far and I think I'm going to enjoy the book. Even my older daughter said the same thing about the cover of this book being unappealing. It's probably not fair to judge a book by it's cover. Now its time to see what's going on here while I have my coffee.

Good morning. It's 60F at 10:30 am but is supposed to reach 81F by this afternoon. What is the name of your book?

Oh, yeah, I meant to ask the title, too.

@Marilynda1225 I agree, I wouldn't bother reading the back cover with that picture on the front cover. I would trade temps with you today. I prefer the high-60s to low-70s.

WE might reach the high 60s or low 70s today. It's much warner where you are than here. The book is Lessons In Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. The plot is interesting but the cover isn't

It is a lovely sunny and mildish day here-mild by Autumn standards. Since the helpdesk had to order me another replacement laptop for work, I am sitting here literally waiting for the UPS delivery man to come along. I have my other laptop all packed up with the return shipping label on it.

I know that we should not judge a book by it's cover, but I am like you. If the cover is not attractive I am not attracted to read the book. Still warm here, very warm.

Sometimes I find that I'm drawn to a book by the cover and then I'll read the synopsis of what the book is about. This book Lessons In Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus doesn't have a very appealing cover and would not be a book I would get except so many people raved about it.

I usually try to get the same sheets back on the bed. Mostly the pillow cases go back on too without needing to be ironed.

Thankfully most of my sheets dont' need to be ironed but when they do I put them on the bed and iron them on the bed. It's so much easier than trying to iron them on an ironing board. Now if I take them right out of the dryer they aren't wrinkled.

@Marilynda1225 I'm afraid I never iron sheets. I bet they look really nice on the bed though.

I have a sunny Monday, too. It’s Tuesday now here in the Philippines. The cover of the book is also very important for me but I keep on telling myself not to judge by the cover of a book alone.

This book would be one I would pass up and not even read what it's about but, it's gotten so many reviews on the site I belong to I figured I'd give it a chance. Glad I did. The story is pretty good. Hope you're enjoying your time in the Philippines and glad that you're having good weather.

My parent’s house used to be dusty all the time. This went on for a couple of decades before they changed the windows, and that took care of it. That might not be the problem your house has though.

My house is fairly new so I doubt it's the windows but it could be. I think it has more to do with the forced air/heat that I have and it just blows dust all around the house. So if either the heat or the a/c is on it's inevitable that I'll be dusting more often and I hate dusting!!!

It's sunny here, too, and I did some cleaning, as well. I'm glad I cleaned the kitchen window because that's how I found out it wasn't sitting in it's channel at one side, therefore letting in some cool air. I'll be doing the laundry a little later. (Taking a break right now from the cleaning.)

@Marilynda1225 Feels warmer inside already, or maybe that's because it's warmer outside today (15°C at 10:30, expected high of 21°C/70°F).

That was a lucky find about your window. Certainly don't need a draft coming in through the window.

I hope you enjoy your book. It's sunny here too. Not that I'm complaining. George and I put on a new set every time just so that our bed can look different.

I'm just too lazy today to change sheets. I was going to change my comforter and redo the whole bed but since it's supposed to get warm this week I'm going to wait before switching over to the warmer bedding.

You prove a point some authors don't consider: the cover matters. That's why I always work to find covers that will draw a person to my book, pick it up, and read it. So far, I think I'm doing okay in that category. It's been a while since I dusted. However, I think it's time I got out the duster. I'm having company in the near future. I don't know when yet, but I invited my pastor and his wife over for dinner at their convenience. I put the invitation in the pastor appreciation card I gave them yesterday. So, I don't know when they're going to get to them as they're leaving the boxes in place until next Sunday. I'm planning the meal, but I'm not set in stone about it yet. House chores never end. Putting the sheets back on the bed when they come out of the dryer is a good plan. I've been doing that too lately.

I love the covers you pick for your books Valerie. If you have time check out the cover on the book I'm reading Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. That's so nice that you've invited your pastor and his wife for dinner. I'm sure they'll be happy to come and enjoy a nice meal. Having a menu in mind certainly is further than I would be I hate dusting but I see to have to do it more frequently. I hate having forced air/heat as it just blows dust everywhere.

@Marilynda1225 I agree with you about the cover. Amazon calls it a best seller. Thank you. I'm glad you like my covers. Thank you. I hope they will like what I serve. I'm still trying to come up with a dessert. I might dust once a year. About as often as I vacuum. I just washed the floor, so it's time to bring out the vacuum and the duster.

I don't blame you for wanting to put the same sheets back on the bed. The filter in our furnace hasn't been changed in ages. Can't get hubby to do it. Have a good week and enjoy your book.

These days anything I can do that makes chores quicker and easier is a big thumbs up. I have to rely on my daughter to go down and change the filter in the furnace. I've reminded her a few times and I hate to nag. She does so much but it really needs to be done before the weather changes and the heat is on full time.

I don't belong to any book clubs because my taste is different from most people I know. A few of my friends do and they end up reading things they don't even like. lol Sounds like homework to me!!

I don't belong to a book club per se. I belong to some online and mostly people just talk about books they're reading and usually I get interested if many people rave about a book. The one I'm reading got so many good reviews that I went ahead and got it but the cover just deterred me from reading it. Now that I've started it the story is pretty good and I'll probably zip through it pretty fast.

I have books that like in a cycle I reread after a while and often find that when I read them again I find things I did not pick up the first time or skimmed over too quickly,

The plot is interesting but the cover isn't. I hate to say that I judge a book by it's cover but it's the cover that usually gets my attention before I even see what the book is about. We're going to have some really nice days this week.
