Are you reading anything interesting?

One of my goals for this year was to go back to reading. Well, I can't say that I accomplished it as I have only read 2 books this year. (It doesn't even feel like I work in a library) I finished the second one yesterday, The Housemaid from Freida McFadden. It surprised me, it is a very good story, a fantastic thriller. My time to read is short, there are days when I can't even pick up the book but when I finish a book I have a good feeling. Are you reading anything interesting? What was the last book you read? Picture of the book.

I love thrillers, for sure I am going to check where I can find this book. I had nothing new to read, I decided to re-read Doctor Sleep, by Stephen King, it is also a thriller.

@nela13 Stephen King is a complicated author. Often he adds too much "supernatural " to his thrillers, they become too much "fantasy". I like the thrillers talking about something that could really happen to us.

@LadyDuck You would definitely like this one then, I am not going to tell you the story, giving spoilers isn't a good thing but, believe me, it is worth reading.

I am re-reading a series by Cassandra Clare called The Mortal Instruments... I didn't realize it was also a TV Series and a movie until I just looked it up... After I finish reading the series again, I'll try the movie and the TV Series. .

@nela13 I think so, too. I'm always disappointed in the movies made from books.

So far this year I've read 63 books so I've read a lot and I'm currently reading two books right now. One I'm ARCing for the author to do a review for. The other is for fun because it's part of a series I've been waiting to finish. I'm reading Sanguine Queen (A retelling of Little Red Riding Hood) and the other is Carage (a dark college society romance).

@nela13 It's not a smutty but it is a romance to a certain extent as a love story or to be a love story. It leaves off in a cliffhanger so it has room to grow for the new author to build off. Me her writing style isn't something I enjoy but the story itself was well-detailed for the period shew as mining for.

I used to love diving into a good book, and losing myself in the story. I have always been an avid reader, but it's been a long time since I've read a book, as I just don't seem to have time anymore these days. Oh, I guess I could commit 30 minutes or an hour each day, but I'm the type of reader who likes to spend hours reading a book, especially when the story sucks you into the author's world. And for sure I don't have hours upon hours these days to do that!

I love Frieda McFadden. I have read a lot of her books. I am reading one now which I think is called "Don't Believe a Word," which is about a woman who thinks her stepfather murdered her mother and his own son. I think he is guilty..as per the title.

I have been reading a book called `People Person' by Candice Carty -Williams. It is about five people who all shared the same father and with four different mothers. The father got them all to meet up when most of them were old enough to go on dates. They had not known each other before and their father was worried that they might start dating each other. Then a few years later they all got together again when one of them had a rather strange emergency.

I haven't read that book yet but I do have it and am going to read it (hopefully soon). The book I just finished is Lessons In Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus and I was hesitant to read it because the cover wasn't very enticing. It kept coming up on one of my book groups that it was a really good book so I finally decided to read it. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
