Brilliant Just Brilliant

Do you know people who you can talk to but meanwhile they are busy with other things and are just not listening? I have had the pleasure of having a discussion with someone who was just not listening to me. After I had finished explaining things and asked them what they thought the reply was Did you say something? That just frustrates me a lot. So I got to thinking that most likely a man as busy as Santa at this time of the year might get to be a bit absentminded and wrapped up in his own problems. Here is a humorous Christmas poem I wrote about Mrs. Claus asking Santa for help with some problems and everything she said just went over his head. In the end, Mrs. Claus goes away mad. Santa was so tired He was giving the naughty and nice list Just one more look through There were toy inspections To be had Elves to be reprimanded and reindeer to give pep talks to Santa sat by his PC Mumbling to himself, ”Brilliant just brilliant.” A couple of ho, ho, ho’s and even some no, no, no’s It was in this state That Mrs. Claus found him There were Christmas cookie-baking problems and she needed some advice So there she stood before the desk While Santa mumbled and grumbled, ”Brilliant just brilliant” Well, when the Mrs. said that the electric oven Had a problem and Santa Replied simply ”Brilliant just brilliant.” They had a very fine conversation indeed ”You know all the Christmas cookies burned.” ”Brilliant just brilliant.” ”The elves are going on strike.” ”Brilliant just brilliant.” ”Rudolph’s nose went out.” ”Brilliant just brilliant.” ”They’re predicting the storm of the century.” ”Brilliant just brilliant.” ”My parents are coming for the holidays.” ”Brilliant just brilliant.” ”You are an old fool.” ”Brilliant just brilliant.” and with that, Mrs. Claus left the room Slamming the door behind It was at that moment that Santa Lifted up his head and he said - ”Wonder what she wanted?”

@RasmaSandra Yes, there are those that may listen but do not know how to help or they could care less what you have to say so do not pay attention when you try to explain something to them.

@celticeagle glad you enjoyed this. I just went by what I know myself like when someone does not listen you tell them something funny or different and if they don't react you know they did not hear anything you said,

It is frustrating, I know, my husband often does not listen to me when he is busy doing something. Mr Santa is definitely a MAN!

@RasmaSandra I cannot believe that some people can be so rude. He was there to help people, not to listen to sport games on the radio.

@LadyDuck A long time ago I was at university and I went to the desk at the library to ask for a book. I stood there explaining to the guy behind the desk what I was looking for. After about five minutes I realized something he had earplugs in his ears and was listening to a sports game on the radio. I nudged him in the arm and he got mad at me SIGH

I had a friend that would complain I wasn't coming to see her enough but every time I did, she would be busy with so many other things she wouldn't hear a word I said, Even answers to her questions. I finally told her so and she denied it. She doesn't have ADHD or anything that could have made her squirrel. She would just interrupt, get on her phone etc. After awhile, I realized, we were not compatible.

I love the poem! I've been in that position many times with reactions that made no sense to find I've been completely ignored. Poor Mrs. Claus.

Yes, I know someone who always does other things while talking to me. We are talking over the phone, he watched comedies while talking to me. I feel bad, but I am not sure if he listens or not what I am saying.

@dya80dya at least when you are talking to someone in person you can tell when they are not listening but to have someone not listen to you over the phone is the worst thing for someone to do,

As with Santa in the poem some people are just too preoccupied with their own thoughts to pay attention. Although with Santa it led to disastrous results instead of just offending someone (not that this was a good thing either). And then there are others who would rather talk than listen to what anyone else has to say. They actually interrupt a person in mid conversation to tell you their own thoughts. Usually, off topic too. Busy, busy, busy to listen or would rather you do the listening instead of talking. Yes, the art of a two-way conversation is slowly fading. Nice poem btw. Very cleverly done with an appropriate and apt meaning.
