The Mansplain Man

I think most of us have heard “mansplain”, but if not, the definition is a man explaining something in a condescending manner to a woman with the assumption she has no knowledge about the topic. One man stands out in my mind, but I’m not sure he realizes he does it. He wants everyone to think he is the smartest person in the room, and he will correct the smallest thing any woman says. He does not do this to men, but even men notice his condescension to women. Why he wants to belittle women is a mystery. It makes me appreciate all the men who don’t do that. Do you know a “mansplainer”?

@ambiepam I think such creatures feel a bit inferior, so they will belittle anyone they can in front of others to big themselves up, when what they are really doing is diminishing themselves in front of others.

Friend can be a little bit like that. If I hear him start though, I just tell him to knock it off.

I have seen many. I feel that men who have little self steem have to need to do that specially in front of other men.

I agree with what @xFiacre wrote. Usually it's the attitude of those who feel inferior. They try to diminish women to look wiser and smarter in front of the other men.

Some men are guilty of doing that and then there are those of either gender that will repeat what they say expecting everyone to agree with them. Those kinds of people aren't worth knowing.

Thankfully no, I haven't met anyone like that in a long time. I have met one or two women who behave in a condescending manner though which is just as irritating.

No mansplainer around me. My husband and I plan everything together. He does not need to explain anything to me.

@AmbiePam He probably wants to belittle women to think he is right on everything even if he is not and that is wrong. It is said that he puts women down and my ex did that too. They think they are so smart but they are not.

I wonder if they are masking their own insecurities by trying to make themselves appear self-important and superior. Kind of having to prove themselves to you. Could also be a power thing too.

I guess so. It’s kind of sad because I don’t think they know people tend to think less of others who do that.

No, I don't know such a person. I think that they dislike women or they feel inferior to women.
