If you're going to promote a month for soup winter weather is a great way to go about doing it. And with January comes snow, which we are now seeing over parts of the world. So, what better way to warm up your body and mood with a nice, delicious cup of soup. Having a nutritious cup of that liquid hot stuff provides some comfort, especially when you are snowed in after a big storm. Many of us make our own soup out of leftovers. Turkey soup comes to mind as an easy fix, and a great way to stretch out our budgets. There are so many wonderful kinds of soups like Minestrone, Chicken Noodle, and Tomato to name a few, it can be so hard to pick one as a favorite, but I'm going to try. One I always enjoy is "clam chowder" either way, Manhattan or New England. How about you? What brand and kind do you "stock" up on? And by the way, you can find great deals on soup this month too. I found one for Panera Bread who is offering a soup and sandwich special. Buy a sandwich get a bowl of soup for just $1. Yes, come wintertime soup is King. And with so many different varieties celebrating one day on the calendar just wouldn't do. No, they had to give soup the entire month of January for us to enjoy. Fun soup facts: -Chicken soup is known for its healing properties. -Campbell's founded National Soup Month in 1986. -Americans eat more than 10 billion bowls of soup each year. -Archaeologists found evidence of soup dating back to 6000 B.C. It was hippo soup! Now there's some facts to "bowl you over." Source: National Day Calendar Photo: Campbell Soup Company

Imagine how old soup would be if we could retrieve prehistory facts from early cave men

Ahh but those cavemen, cooking up soup in kritter skulls or something, things we'll never actually know. Hey, for all we know the neandertals could've made soup too.

@dgobucks226 Good lord, that’s a lot of soup! This soup actually wasn’t spicy at all, which was kind of disappointing, but it just tastes so good.

I love soups and stews. Likely my favorite is chili, though. Casseroles are also good in this weather because you can heat up the house baking them.
