Have you ever been sent a fictitious package?

My father several years ago shopped online via an advertising link and he never asked me or anyone who knew better. Yesterday my father received a package that he didn't order at all, which the courier said was perfume and the payment method was COD (Cash on Delivery). after we confirmed that we didn't feel like ordering the item, luckily the courier wanted to return the package to the sender. That's why we must always be careful when shopping online, if the shop does not go through an official e-commerce platform, it can force us to buy their products.

I received one many years ago, well before Internet existed. It was when I had to get married. People checked the list of marriages and they send fictitious packages, pretending it was a wedding gift, where you had to pay a little amount for the shipping. Nothing is new in this world.

This is what has happened since the internet appeared here. If we have already entered all the information, it will continue to be used by cunning sellers.

@LadyDuck Me too, I can't always keep an eye on what my father is doing. He was also starting to go senile.

That is something new to experience. I agree that we need to be vigilant when dealing things online.

@May2k8 I agree. I was a victim of this scammer. He got some money from my bank. It was a big lesson for me.

It’s amazing what people will do to try to cheat others out of a little money.

If I didn't order anything but arrived any such fictitious order by cash on delivery means. I never accept such an order, rather I quarrel with them and threaten to file a court case against them.

In this case the courier doesn't know anything because they were only told to deliver the goods, we might be able to sue the shop that sent the goods.

I'm glad you were not forced to pay for the perfume. I think they misunderstood the delivery address.

The number and the address is correct. If we are forced to pay for what we did not order, we can take the seller to legal action.

Yes, that's right, after they succeed in cheating, their cellphone number will not be able to be contacted.

I have. It was when I lived in the last place. I never could find the owner..so I did not open it though..it was to my address but another name. When I moved, I left it there as the post office didnt want it.

If it's not in your name, why do you accept it? And you don't have to pay for it, right?

The problem is that my father has been cheated twice, he always gets goods that are easily damaged at high prices.

That sounds suspicious to me because most online retailers would not use cash on delivery. You normally have to pay for the goods before they will send them out. Perhaps it is different in your country.
