Christopher Nolan has been nominated for best director for "Oppenheimer" and Martin Scorsese has been nominated for best director for " Killers of the Flower Moon". There are other 3 director nominations as well, but I have seen these two films and found both of them really awesome. Of course, Oppenheimer had a wider reach, it had a massive box office collection as well and the movie was surely a Chris Nolan special. On the other hand, Martin Scorsese delivered another complex layered story and screenplay with riveting performances in "Killers of the Flower Moon" So if one of these two directors had to win the Oscars for best director, who do you think it would be?

@RebeccasFarm Haha your statement might make hardcore Nolan fans uncomfortable.

I am yet to watch either of them. I missed the opportunity to watch Oppenheimer when it was released in the theatre. They both are in my watch list but I am not sure when I would be able to. My elder daughter has watched both and she liked both of them. She liked Killers of Flowers moon more.

Killers of the Flower Moon is based on the story and the characters that are bound to touch the heart and like all Scorsese movies, this movie has elements of pain, regrets, betrayals, and dark humor.

@avi256 Yes, that's what my daughter said. She loves such kind of movies and even I enjoy them. She recommended me this one, but I am yet to watch the movie.

@arunima25 The movie was released in India for a very short duration in theatres. I don't think it is available yet on any popular OTT , it has probably released on Apple+ tv

I have not seen either movie, but going on the buzz right now in pompous Hollywood, I would lean towards Martin Scorsese having the bigger chance of winning. Exposing stories of mistreated Native Americans is a huge, buzz worthy topic in America right now, and has been for awhile. I don’t know who else is nominated though, so I guess one of the other nominees could surprise everyone.

The topic Martin Scorcesse has taken in this movie is historically significant and relevant even today. But you are right there are other 3 movies which may have even better content as far as Oscars are concerned.

I haven't seen Killers. I will wait until it gets to the small screen. Oppenheimer I liked, but it had too much backstory as far as I was concerned. I would have rather seen more about the actual experimentation process, political drama etc. I don't care who Oppenheimer was sleeping with or his weird personality particularily.

@mildredtabitha I think if one of these has to win, it will go to Oppenheimer, but deep down my heart, I loved Killers of the Flower Moon a bit more.

Well, I guess it's Nolan's time. Both movies are good. I've seen them but Nolan has his own way to make a twist as part of his element, even for a biopic movie. Scorsese did it in 'The Departed', love it.
