Did I see a UFO? And another strange event.

Several years ago, when I was driving through Nevada, I saw these weird lights on the wall of an underpass (or overpass, depending on your perspective). It was late at night, and there were few other cars on the road. The lights were multicolored, and moving in an odd way. I looked all around for the source of the lights, but never found it. I wasn't abducted or anything (so far as I know). I just continued on my way to my home in California. Just now, I saw something odd at my "discount" gas station. The price of gas was down, but not by the usual ten cents. It was down by four cents, from $4.59.99 to $4.55.99. I looked around for hovering metallic objects, but didn't see any. Have you ever seen any UFOs? Have you ever seen gas prices move around in four or five cent intervals?

I don't monitor gas prices but I have seen strange lights in the sky, dancing around each other then dashing off...

@TheHorse I don't know what they were, and I wasn't the only one who saw them.

I have seen some UFO's in my time. But remember, the letters stand for Unidentified Flying Object. So if it is flying and I have no clue what it is, it is a UFO. But my mom, cousin, and I were out driving, my practices for getting my license, and when we got back to the edge of town, my mom and I both got out of the car to change places. Right there above the field cattycornered from where we were on the road was a hovering object, very low so we could see it pretty clearly. That was back in 1971. That was the closest, no higher than a tall tree or so. But I have seen strange things in the sky over my years of driving and being out at night.

@TheHorse It was a derby shaped dark colored UFO. Saucer type I guess you might say. Didn't notice any lights or windows. However, I am quite different on what I think these UFO's and aliens from other planets are. I believe they are the fallen angels/demons that were cast out of heaven and fell to the earth. You would find that info in the Bible. I also believe that some of them could be good angels as well. I could go on and on and on about that but won't in this space. As for that specific UFO, it definitely was not any kind of airplane as it was hovering and wasn't a helicopter as it had no rotor blades. Back in 1971 there were not a lot of options for what it could have been if man-made. It was close enough for me to see it clearly. I mean not much higher up than a tall tree and just across the street from me.

I have seen gas prices climb or drop by one or two pennies before. So anything is possible.

It's usually a dime here. But I actually think I have seen five cents before.

@TheHorse I've seen a dime or more, which is most common, but I've literally seen one or two cents.

I have seen a few things in the night skies in my lifetime that I can't explain, and once--about 10 years ago--I was relaxing on a float in a buddy's swimming pool, and looking way up high in the sky I noticed a shiny metallic object hovering overhead. It never moved the entire time I watched it, so I knew it wasn't a plane or a weather balloon. I don't know for sure, but I kinda talked myself into believing I was seeing a satellite, although I don't know if that's possible during daylight hours.

@TheHorse The orbits and trajectories of satellites depends on what their purpose or mission is. Some move across the sky in relation to the earth, some stay stationary. For example, most weather satellites are in an orbit that will keep them stationary relative to the earth, so that they can record and report data on specific geographic areas. My first thought was that I was seeing a stationary weather (or maybe spy) satellite, but then I truly wonder if they can be seen in the sky during the daytime?

@moffittjc Ah, good info. I was wondering if one could have a satellite orbit such that it was above a particular place on earth.

I don't know either! Don't most satellites move in relation to the earth?

No on the first question, yes in the second. I've seen prices go up or down by one or two cents too. They never drop by ten cents but they might go up that much. Sometimes they jump by fifteen cents or somewhere in between. Or gas has been hovering between 2.89- 3.09 the last few months. (Did you like my pun)?

Well, I'm not sure about UFO, but what's more common to be seen by some people in my country (not all but the stories are all around) are the sightings of supernatural creepy creature. Yet, I'm more keen on what's the UFO really like. Why do you think UFO sightings tend to frequently take place in American continent?

@wardfcsc or we can blame it on the Chinese for spying on America secretly.

@TheHorse Flashing lights approaching really fast then suddenly veering up over the car and disappearing into the distance. They didn't take about it for years as they thought no-one would believe them.

I do not know if this qualifies as seeing a UFO but I do remember when it was dark outside during the blackout period in Lake Charles in 2020 when it appeared that a flying saucer was flashing lights to the ground in the open backyard before the object that appeared to be a flying saucer went away.

Though there are strange phenomena in the atmosphere from time to time, they are explained away as nothing more than a figment of our imagination. I have read Stanton Friedman's Flying Saucers and Science and he has given facts based on scientific inquiry that UFOs are real.

@TheHorse "Friedman hypothesized that UFOs may originate from relatively nearby sunlike stars. A piece of evidence that he often cited concerning this hypothesis is the 1964 star map drawn by alleged alien abductee Betty Hill during a hypnosis session, which she said was shown to her during her abduction. Astronomer Marjorie Fish constructed a three-dimensional map of nearby sun-like stars and claimed a good match from the perspective of Zeta Reticuli, about 39 light-years distant. The fit of the Hill/Fish star maps was hotly debated in the December 1974 edition of Astronomy magazine,[11][12] with Friedman and others defending the statistical validity of the match." Wikipedia. Friedman defended his research based on scientific inquiry.
