Well, here it is, Valentine’s Day! And Ash Wednesday, so people giving up chocolate for Lent are hosed, aren’t they! It’s been a different week for me. Sunday I was celebrating that Superb Owl they were all talking about with a trip to the emergency room. I have a persistent pain in my left side, so I thought I’d better get it looked at since it hadn’t improved any in a week. All of the tests were normal, thank God. Well, except for one thing: the radiologist report said I had a normal-appearing appendix. That’s scary, given that my appendix was removed in 1995. (Ah, the VA, gotta love ‘em.) The doctor said that there’s a “residual” pain that can come and go after an injury, so that’s probably what it is. I had a hairline fracture of a rib in my left side in 2006 (broke it sneezing…on my birthday, no less!) I mentioned that my dear mother of blessed memory said that she’d have intermittent pain in an area where she broke a rib in 1962, and that bothered her for the rest of her life! So…when am I going on vacation? Good question. There’s no bad weather around here to run away from right now, although we do have a “weather alert day” for Friday because of snow. I may have to believe them this time…they said we were going to get snow Monday night. Tuesday I had an urgent message from my brother, asking me to come help him shovel all the snow out of his driveway! (If you can’t guess, we didn’t get a drop of rain NOR a flake of snow.) The photo is Beargrass Creek. I took that yesterday when I walked around the shopping center after getting my hair cut. I went in Chuy’s this morning and the guy who’s usually at the door said, “I like your haircut.” So do I!! Y’all have a great evening/day/whatever it is wherever you are!
