For dogs I have always liked Golden Retrievers because they are beautiful and intelligent dogs.but Inever wanted to own one though..Too big, and they chew things..besides they don't have a long lifespan. Cats, I always liked Scottish fold cats..with the folded ears. They always looked neat. There are some also cats that have a crinkly coat. I like those as well. I don't know the name off the top of my head though.

When I lived in Arlington I used to go to cat shows. It was fun to see all the different breeds.

@snowy22315 Some breeds are interesting. I don't like hairless cats.

The Abyssinian cat is a breed that I love, they are cute cats. They want attention and they are extremely active.

I used to have a cat that had a large portion of Abyssian in his blood. He was active. He used to follow us around everywhere even up ladders, up a mountain etc.

@snowy22315 Those cats are so lovely. My niece had a golden retriever and I always wondered how those dogs are considered intelligent. The neighbor across the road also has one and the dog is as dumb as the one of my niece.

After I got my first Chihuahua, they have been my favorite dog breed. But mine have always been calm and sweet Chihuahuas, and I have been told that is not normal. I would like a yellow lab and black lab as well. My favorite dog I ever had though was part Chihuahua and part Corgi. Sherlock was amazing. If I had a cat, I would like a sphinx cat because I’m pretty sure I am allergic. I walked into my neighbor’s apartment once, and my eyes welled up, my skin started itching, and I had to leave. That was the first time I had a bad reaction to a cat though. I’d like to have any cat, but a sphinx would be a safer bet.

They are neat looking. That cat Freddie that Rama Sandra has looks like it is largely Sphinx. Sis and bro in law have cat allergies but have always had them. I think they have gotten better throughout the years. I know at one time though they had to keep the cats out of the bedroom. Jax is a Chihaua..maybe mixed with a Pomeranian. He is on the hyper side.

All dogs will chew things until they are trained not to. I love golden retrievers too, but they shed a lot. The dog I have now sheds. I didn't think about it when I got her. I would not trade her for anything though. She is a wonderful dog, a mixed American Eskimo. My favorite dog breed is a toy poodle. I had one from a puppy until she was 17 years old and my mom was caring for her at that time. She got sick and had to be put down. Poodles, as well as many other breeds, do not shed. My favorite kind of cat, not a breed, is a calico. I love the multi-colors of the calico. They are beautiful. Also, all calico cats except for the very, very rare instance, are females. If you happen to own a male calico, you are rich.

All dogs chew butt they don't typically do things like dismember or devour a couch cushion like I have heard about Golden's doing.

@snowy22315 Bad dog behavior of any dog comes from bad training, People tend to hear about things about different dog breeds and automatically believe them. I have never heard anything bad about golden retrievers, but just because you hear something about a dog breed does not make it true. The old adage that you cannot judge a book by its cover rings true about any judgement of any kind. Dogs do what they are trained or not trained to do. Sometimes dogs are rescue dogs who came from abusive situations, and they can have bad behavior because of the fear from the abuse. But that has nothing to do with breed. Rottweilers and pit bulls are supposedly bad behaved dogs. Again, they are only as bad as their owners make them. My daughter has owned rottweilers for the past 23 years and never had a problem with them. She now owns a Rotti and a pit bull. They are both very gentle dogs wanting to love on everyone. I used to own an Alaskan Malamute and people were so afraid of him that they crossed the street whenever I took him for a walk. But he was very gentle as well.

@snowy22315 ;Not all dogs chew. My dog doesn't. She doesn't even play with her toys. She cuddles and asks for belly rubs.

I don't like bulldogs they slobber. The hairless cats are pretty cool. I think I would want one to wear to a sweater in winter.

Some of mine I inherited..or people asked if I would take them. Nico was living at a vet clinic. I guess you might say it was a private shelter.

It's hard to choose a favourite breed. Labradors seem very good but are very food oriented. Border Collies are nice too.

I think Border Collies would be hard to manage due to their intelligence

We've always had Spitz breed dogs -- Norwegian Elkhounds, Norwegian Buhunds and Pomeranians. They're nice because they don't stink; and they are very lovable. Have a good weekend.
