Choices choices and more choices

How do people choose what job they want to do when they graduate high school. I can barely even choose what flavor of ice cream I want, or what I want for lunch. My mom says I need to start thinking about what I want to do with my life because "it may seem its a long time ahead but you'll be 18 in a blink of an eye", but I'm still a kid I don't wanna start worrying about that now because I don't even wanna finish high school, but I cant tell her that I will be in so much trouble! But I don't understand why there is so many choices you have to make why cant you just make 1 and be done and over with it but you gotta make like a million choices every single day!

That's part of being an adult. However, you shouldn't let anyone, least of all your parents, preasure you into thinking you need to know what to do riht out of high school. Enjoy those years, make good grades and do your best. You have the rest of your adult life to decide what you want to do with it. Some adults never find what they want and jump from job to job, and that's okay, too.

I'm 43 and still don't know what I want to do when I leave school When I was young, I always wanted to be an actress. I knew that was unlikely to happen but didn't really know what else I wanted to do. I have had various ideas since then, lots of jobs in fields that I found myself in accidentally. I'm now in a reasonably job but not something I'd ever have considered before. One thing people might say, if you're not sure what you want to do, is to think about what you're good at. Saying that, I used to get frustrated with people telling me I was good at lots of things so could do anything - that's not helpful when you're trying to narrow down your options I have two young adult sons currently looking for work. They're both struggling to find work in their chosen fields.

Don't pressure yourself to have it all figured out so early in life. I'm in my 50s and I'm still trying to decide what I want to do when I grow up!

@brenna_g I remember when I was little my dad asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I don't know why I said this, but I told him I wanted to be a statue. I haven't succeeded yet, but I'm still working on it.

Hello Brenna. Welcome to Mylot. Sometimes your grades will determine which college to go but you have to choose which course to learn depending on which job you want. Try and find a career coach.

It can be a tough decision, and it depends on what your passions might be. I wound up just joining the navy, spent my four years and then went into manufacturing sort of by default when I got out and stayed in that line of work for probably 15 years before getting into pest control and then sales. The biggest thing is to simply start making money, and start saving right away, and learn about investing. If you can make as much as you can, save as much as you can, and invest (wisely) as much as you can, in 30 years you probably won't need to think about working. You will be able to think about retiring early and enjoying life.

I'm sure there are just as many people that don't know what they want to do for a living during their lifetime as those that do know. I know that some go to college with one goal in mind and realize that's not for them after all and switch degrees. If you go to church or believe in God your can pray about it and I firmly believe that God will help you when it's time to make your decision. I did a little bit of traveling when I was 26-34 and he always impressed in me where I should go next. That helped me not worry about making a mistake. I wish I knew that before I got out of school. So, you're fifteen?
