If it is not natural disasters or acts of terrorism now we can add being scared of accidents like this particularly if we happen to be in a car crossing a bridge. The Francis Scott Key Bridge was struck by a large container ship and collapsed into the Patapsco River. After the ship was on fire billowing black smoke. It happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning so not too many cars on the bridge.
The search is going on for about 20 people and multiple vehicles that wound up in the river. The bridge was part of Interstate 6-95 a major artery in Baltimore, which has the 9th largest port in the US. The best we can do is offer prayers for all concerned.

@RasmaSandra The bridge was no match for that huge cargo ship! I believe it was built in the late 70's so not too old.

@wolfgirl569 also makes you wonder when that bridge was last inspected since it takes a lot of traffic every day,

I saw that this morning, and thought they had got the missing count to seven, but then I haven’t checked updates since around 11am. I know the ship’s power went out, and they couldn’t help it, but wow, are the people on that ship going to feel guilty about this.

@RasmaSandra I think guilt is just a natural human emotion.

@AmbiePam they shouldn't feel guilty because part of the bridge fell on the ship and there are also casualties and they were not responsible for checking the bridge for safety which it appears has not been done in a long time

@RebeccasFarm I didn't know you were born there. Sad situation but at least it did not happen during an hour when the bridge was full of cars,

@RasmaSandra Full enough of cars apparently. But yes, it could have been many more.

I saw the television report on a streaming service this morning. It was very sobering to see a bridge fall down into the river on videotape.

I saw the story in my news clips. My heart goes out to the families and friends of the missing people.
