Kitty is SO BUSTED. How cats display guilt.

We have all seen a dog with its tail wagging between its legs. Dogs are not very good at hiding guilt. Our beagle used to jump up on the kitchen table at eat food that was intended for humans. We could tell it had happened as soon as we walked in the front door.
But what about cats?
Kitty just came to my desk, demanded a back rub, received one, and then disappeared. I suspected she was in my bathroom, so I went there. She was atop my toilet, threatening to drink my toilet water.
I said, in my angry voice, "Hey this is a toilet, not a drinking fountain."
She scurried out.
Aha! Guilty cat! I am in control.
Then I went to her dishes. There was plenty of water. From yesterday. OK, so maybe her dry food was gone.
I put some more dry food in her bowl. I grabbed her water dish and filled it with fresh clear water.
Am I a cat abuser? Should I giver her some extra wet food?
Anyway, I am in control. I got to see a guilty cat just now.
Buwaahahaa!

She kind of looked like she was hanging her head, but she still got you to come wait on her hand and foot.

Just like us, cats like clean things. So if you forget to give her fresh water daily, she'll look for it elsewhere. We keep our seat down, so Chilly doesn't get any wild ideas.

If you don't want her drinking from the toilet, put the lid down! Alternately, you could not flush after peeing...

Nico is never remiss about any of his bad behavior. He does respond to good kitty though and tends to repeat that behavior.

I thought drinking toilet water was legal in California...Or are you only allowed to smoke it?

I keep my bathroom door closed and my cats hardly ever venture in there, When I am at the sink washing my hands one or the other might venture in and look around but that is all, I always make sure they have fresh water since they eat dry food and drink from the same bowl, I also pop in some ice cubes to freshen and cool of things when I am getting a drink with cubes myself,

I would put the lid down. Kitty is very particular. Have a good day.

There is no such animal as a guilty cat - she is setting you up for some evil plan.

I think she is putting one over you. I can't imagine a cat ever displaying, or feeling, guilt.
