I Actually Made Something Today

I have been having a bear of a time motivating myself to work at my woodturning. With the kidney stone pain and the pinched nerve in the back pain, it is at times hard to get up and do anything more than the minimum. I did get after a project that I've been meaning to make for quite a long time. I made a couple of hobo reels for fishing. I videotaped making the first one so I hope to do an article on Hubpages and a YouTube video before too long. It's a handle with a spool end for the fishing line. With a little practice, it is possible to cast a line underhand with it assuming I got all the proportions close enough. My son Wesley and I intend to do a little small game hunting and fishing this year in the bush here. There is quite a bit of small game around and there is trout and other fish in the river. We also invested in a couple of hunting slingshots and are working on our aim. Right now I can hit the broad side of a barn but for the time being, I can only scare the wildlife.

River trouts are so good, those are my favorite. You are doing a hard work, but soon you will relax and enjoy hunting and fishing.

They will be excellent. Conditions are good for them coming higher up on the river. I have to check when fishing season starts first.

@LadyDuck The fishing seasons here are mostly meant to keep people from overfishing during breeding season. I respect that. I have no intention of destroying the resource.

@koopharper Better to follow the rules to avoid to get fined. We do not fish or hunt, but I know that it's only possible during some months of the year.

The poor barn will soon be quivering in its foundations.

Actually, the biggest victim to this point isn't the barn. The boys and I have peppered the poor old deep freeze that we use to keep the wildlife out of our garbage.

@koopharper That's smaller than a barn at least. I forgot to say the reel looks good.

It bothers me that it is hard because it is work that I really enjoy doing.

@koopharper You just have to learn to pace yourself and know when to push those limits.

Thank you. I really like making useful items that look great. I'll had pictures again once they have a finish on them and they're fitted out with line and all.

Thank you. I do have another appointment coming up. I suspect based on how I'm feeling that I will end up getting another round of lithotripsy before it's over.
