Brr! It’s so bitter out there that I didn’t even close my gate at home when I left for my doctor’s appointment this morning. One of our meteorologists posted a meme that listed the “27 seasons” we have here (including “whatever the Derby wants to do” [and that’s true: it sn*wed on Derby Day the year I bought my house!]). I have a good result from the GI doctor, lots of hot tea, and a 40-year-old song to soothe the weather. With a big LINDA? NO!!!!! shout-out, here’s today’s song from 1984. Got No Reason Now For Goin’ Home - Gene Watson I’m among the people who are a little confused as to why Gene Watson isn’t in the Country Music Hall of Fame. He’s 80 now, so get him in there while he’s alive, huh?? This is my favorite song of his. Written by the great Johnny Russell (who co-wrote “Act Naturally,” the Buck Owens hit that the Beatles covered), this has all the country stereotypes neatly packaged for you in one line: “I end up in here each night, sittin’ and thinkin’, missing her, hurtin’ so, and drinkin’.” And, of course, it’s one of those upbeat tempo songs that you can line dance to. Ain’t country music great!!! Got No Reason Now for Goin’ Home Written by Johnny Russell Recorded by Gene Watson From Heartaches and Love and Stuff, 1984 Even though I know I ought to:

Thanks for the warning. Have you heard from Lou? I'm very concerned about her. Have a good weekend.

She went to the Baltic States on vacation. Missing all the wild weather here!

@LindaOHio — she may have known she wasn’t going to have wi-fi or that it’d be expensive if she did.

@FourWalls Usually we hear from her while she's gone. It seems like a long time.

@FourWalls That seems alot more probable than snow. It seems like the weather then is mostly hot and humid.

@snowy22315 — the “rule” around here is “don’t plant until Derby Day” because the weather is so weird here.

Name the weather, and we’ve had it. They used to close down the road in front of Churchill Downs on Oaks and Derby for an all-night party on Derby Eve…well, one year, we had tornado warnings while that was going on.

I think his best-known song is “Farewell Party,” but I love this one so much.

Bah, you probably sing “Should I Come Home (Or Should I Go Crazy)” every day.
