When I was growing up I always hear people saying I am a shy person and made me feel like it was something bad to be called like that. Now that I am now matured I am not as shy as I was when I was a kid. Actually I like students that are shy because they are easy to behave in classes. Students who are not shy type are rude. But in my tutorial I find it hard to teach kids that are shy type because they don't seem comfortable with me. I love kids that are not shy and has a loud voice and confident to express themselves.

Right, that really depends. You want someone to talk when you need feedback, otherwise you may as well want to speak to the wall. As long as we follow social norms and try our best to not hurt people's feelings I think being shy is not bad or doesn't really matter.

@averygirl72 Yes, talking too much or oversharing can be as bad. At least shy people make good listeners, some people don't mind 'speaking to the wall' from what I've experienced as a shy person.

There are a lot of types between shy and rude! I've also known people to be both (or come across as shy because they are rude/ignorant). I was quite a shy child (most people wouldn't believe that now ). I don't think it's a bad thing to be shy, although there can be negative impacts to it e.g. not getting help because you don't ask or not being considered for a role/project/team because it's assumed you wouldn't be good at it.

@averygirl72 I don't think it's fair to say shy people are less likely to be rude. They may not necessarily butt in or shout out but they can be rude in other ways. Two of the rudest people I know are people that others thought were shy! I understand it can be hard to teach someone who's really shy but then it can be hard to teach all sorts of people for all sorts of reasons. I know that because I've done it!

I like shy people because they are less likely to be rude but I find it hard to teach if the student is too shy and has a low voice

Why would it be bad, when it's just a personality trait. And another thing, students who aren't shy aren't necessarily rude, they might just have a different communication style. Shyness doesn't determine manners. It's important to respect everyone's individuality and not jump to conclusions about their behavior. Its crucial for a teacher to understand how to support shy students who aren't comfortable with them. Much more he/she should be able to build trust and a welcoming environment for all students regardless of their level of shyness.

I was shy when I was younger. Then a huge change happened in my life. I became a born-again Christian, and I became bold. There might be areas of my life where I'm still shy, but it's not like it was.

I avoided speaking out when young. That could have been due to shyness. After starting working life, I started to assert and air my views.

some are shy in front of strangers, not people they know so, by time, they will open to you, i hope and, you are right, they are well behaved i was shy too, then it became better but later in life, some shy qualities still remained

Yes people who are shy are just not comfortable but when they are at home I'm sure they are not shy anymore. Sometimes it is nice sometimes can be annoying
