I had my follow up for the boo boo under my eye as the result from the rooster attack a couple of weeks ago yesterday. When I got my stitches out Monday, they referred me to Otolaryngology since the area was not healing and very hard. I was nervous and not expecting good news.
This doctor was very nice and took his time explaining to me that this was caused by bleeding after being stitched up. It caused a hemotoma. He said that it would heal on its own but would take its own sweet time. So I can continue to expect very slight improvements each day for possibly months.
I am okay with that. It's better than surgery. In the meantime, I'm looking like a zombie!
Just wanted to give an update on what is going on. I'm feeling better and energy level is getting back to normal. I quit taking the strong antibiotics as they were making me sleepy all the time and trying to give me a UTI.
Hope you all had a good week.

@kareng They also can cause C-Diff and you do not want that.

I thought it could be an hematoma, they did not stop the bleeding before applying stitches. At least you know what it is now, no surgery needed, only to be patient the time it heals by itself.
I hope you do not need to take more antibiotics, now you need to rest and forget about this accident.

Antibiotics are hard on a body. They stave off infection, but at a cost. I know they mess with my kidneys and I am allergic to several of them, so I have to be careful.
I am sorry that all that is going on, but you are correct, it's better than surgery. That meanie old rooster!

@MarieCoyle Right! I tried to tell them that this antibiotic usually has me throwing up big time. I did make sure I took it on a full stomach this time and maybe that was the trouble before, but I really don't think so. They asked me why I couldn't take and I told them and still got it. Go figure!

@MarieCoyle True. My husband complains about sinuses and will come home with nothing. I have asked him what did the doctor say? He said nothing. I told him that is when you say that you are having trouble breathing, stopped up, sinus drip, etc. and demand for treatment. Men are just hard headed.

I swear, they just don't listen half the time. You could say, ''I will die if I take that'' and I swear that is what they would prescribe for you.

@1creekgirl Only if I touch it!! I can smile now without pain but it pulls on or around my eye which feels really weird.

I have come to the conclusion that no matter how much we need them antibiotics are the pits. Do they suggest any type of hot or cold packs to help you reabsorb that extra blood? If you can find an herbalist that makes yarrow salve I am told it is helpful in making extra blood vessels in your face improve.
