What Can Replace Egg?

United States
April 8, 2024 5:42am CST
In a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich? I was reading about the world's greatest sandwich, And started thinking about what I could use in it, instead of the egg. I mean I love eggs, but somehow I can't have them all the time, allergy, I dunno. So what would you use instead? Tofu? Or something, would that work? The original sandwich consists of egg, lettuce, cheese, and bacon, and sourdough bread.

Maybe you can use tofu but it won’t be the same thing. Unless you can somehow make it taste like an egg.

@RebeccasFarm For me, in regards to all food, if I cannot have the real thing then I don’t want it. Like I want a real steak and not something that looks and perhaps smells like it. And don’t call it a cauliflower steak because it is not really a steak. It’s just cauliflower cut very thick.

I saw on YouTube something called an egg substitute that comes in a bottle that might make a sandwich. I never tried an egg substitute but am tempted to. I had bacon the other day and it was so good but I didn't have any eggs so I just had the bacon plain. but I love eggs like you!

Are you allergic to the whole egg? I wonder if something like egg whites would be ok, as they sell that. Or how about some ham? I like tofu, but it's quite bland - not sure that it would do for a sandwich for me personally.

@RebeccasFarm Sometimes my stomach pays for it like hours later - not always - but I'm not sure why.

Some friends replace it with guacamole or just plain mashed avocado. Don't know how that tastes like though. I love eggs !

Most likely not an allergy but not uncommon for some people to have a sensitivity to it. I can't have eggs themselves too often but in things like bread and so on not and issues. To replace eggs in a sandwich a lot of people to avocados. you can also do cinnamon toast with sausage or bacon online. Personally, I'm more of a toast person and do jelly or peanut butter. My youngest does sunbutter and jelly sandwiches for breakfast and I'll toast it too for him. (Sunbutter is sunflower seeds done up in a peanut butter from. He can't have nuts).

No idea on the egg replacement, but I wouldn't add cheese to egg in a sandwich!

I like an egg, bacon and cheese sandwich a lot. Funny though, I was reading about the wonderful ways of making a Grilled Cheese sandwich tastier. And I do enjoy a grilled cheese. Adding bacon is a no-brainer, or tomato, but never thought of putting it together with a slice of turkey and slice of honey crisp apple. How does that sound OT?
