Not Quite a Total Eclipse For Us

The middle of our country got to experience a total eclipse today. The next one will be in 2044. If I am still on planet earth then, I'll be 78. Where I am we got a partial eclipse, like we had several years ago. A couple of friends posted pictures they were able to get when it happened. I was out mowing our yard when it happened, was able to witness it. I didn't have my phone on me so I couldn't get any pictures myself. I'll attach his that was taken at 3 PM this afternoon. I knew it was happening because of the sky, it got a whitish color to it. And the neighbor's dog kept barking like crazy. Picture is from our friend, a fireman, from the station about 1/8-1/4 mile from our home.

I think we were about 85 percent here. I guess a pic here would have been about the same

It looks awesome! We had a partial eclipse here too, but I failed to see it, though I tried. I could tell it happened because of the light here too. Ours would have looked like yours.

cool pic. Yeah only partial here too with cloud cover. I will be 64 when the next one happens. I saw some of it with a homemade cereal box viewer.

We had a partial one also and I wasn't interested. I am concentrating more on healing right now. My dog did bark and whine a lot though.

The sky turned white over us, too. It also darkened slightly but not by much. More typical of a thunderstorm, but a nice sight all the same.

@Dena91 "Partial" is not very interesting. The one over Greenland should be beautiful. The one we had in August 1999 was a total eclipse and we could see it from our balcony.

Your friend got a great shot of it. I've been wondering what the animals would make of it becoming somewhat dark in the middle of the day.

We were in the path of totality; and I watched the eclipse on the Weather Channel. That's a good picture. Have a good day.
