Taking ice cream hurts my teeth.

What's the remedy? I dread taking ice cream now because my teeth feel "pain". The ice cream is too cold and when it comes in contact with my teeth, I feel something similar to pain. I'm wondering how I will enjoy eating ice cream. But drinking cold water has no effect on my teeth. Have you experienced something similar? What did you do?

If your teeth are healthy this should not happen.

As far as I know, my teeth is healthy. Unless I go for checkup. I haven't been to the dentist since 2017. Maybe this is happening to reveal my teeth is not okay. I don't know.

@LadyDuck alright. That is good advice. I'll think about it then plan to go for check-up.

if it is really cold ice cream and if i took it one go, i feel strange medium pain too but that's why i'm waiting for real summer temperatures for that, not before. i am sorry your teeth are sensitive to cold. not sure what to do. will you visit a dentist?

I will try sensodyne first and if it doesn't work, then I'll visit the dentist. Also, I will lick the ice cream instead of biting it to avoid contact with the teeth. Summer temperature is best for taking ice cream.

It’s God’s punishment for eating something naughty. I scream, you scream, We all scream, for ice cream!

@mildredtabitha It’s lyrics from an old song. Here if you want to listen to it. Did you listen to Milly, Molly, Mandy?

Oh really It's not God's punishment. Ice cream is delicious. It's a nice way to play with words. "I scream"

@Orson_Kart not yet. I forgot. Thanks for reminding me. When the electricity is back and the wifi is on, I'll listen to it.

Do you just lick the ice-cream? Maybe you could do that and it wouldn't hurt your teeth.

@mildredtabitha I think taking a big bite could make your teeth hurt. It can also give you what they call an 'ice-cream headache'.

@JudyEv I'm glad to have learned about ice cream headache. I'll only focus on licking when I buy ice cream again this weekend.

What I did is bite a huge part of the ice cream in the mouth. Maybe I should focus on just licking it.

Try Sensodyne toothpaste for sensitive teeth. If that does not work, you may need to see a dentist. If I eat ice cream too quickly, I might get "brain freeze." Have you heard of that? It's a throbbing pain in the forehead just like a migraine. Ouch!

I've never heard of that before. But now I know about it. I've never eaten ice cream too quickly before. Thank you for the suggestion. I'll buy sensodyne.

You've got tooth sensitivity. There's various causes to that. I guess you should pay your dentist a visit to find out.

@pitsipeahie you are definitely right. In the meantime, I'll buy sensodyne before I finally visit the dentist.

@mildredtabitha Oh yes, do that the soonest and do yourself a favor before the discomfort gets worst. Who knows what tooth problem you might have there that makes your teeth sensitive to cold.

Nice suggestion. I'm waiting for my health insurance card to be activated before I start visiting the hospital. I'm undecided about the dentist check-up.

Yes it does and all kinds of spicy things also hurt. I have Ora jel mouthwash that takes pain away.

I'll check if we have oral jel mouthwash at the supermarket or chemist. I might consider trying it.

It sounds like your teeth are extra sensitive to the ice cream. Maybe it's colder than the water?

@mildredtabitha maybe you could just let it get a little bit warmer (not melting) rather than eating it immediately

@Marilynda1225 that is a very good idea. I'll practice that next time.

Yes it is colder than the water. Now it means I can't eat ice cream anymore.

Everything cold hurts my teeth. The toothpaste for sensitive teeth, and fluoride treatments from the dentist help.
