Silly but fun

I'm laughing at me. I get such fun from thrift store finds. Rufus and I took hubby to church so he could volunteer, helping the Pastor answer phones. We then mailed the house taxes check and off we pedaled to my favorite thrift store.
I heard a man say: "There's a dog over there!" I told him that Rufus would be with me as long as he behaved. And he did so he stayed.
Anyway, I have been thinking for weeks on how to hide the rather ugly but needed white sewer pipe that sticks out of the ground by my brick path. I spotted a white, tall wrought iron stand. Not huge but sturdy and on little legs. I snagged it. That would stand nicely in front of the protruding pipe. And the pipe would still show. Rufus and I walked on down the aisle. He sniffed a purse and a scarf while I looked at glass ware and just stuff. Nope. Could break if kicked or hit by the garden hose. Then the prize: old melamine lunch trays. One had gold swirls on it. $1.99. Sweet price. I fit it sideways into the stand and yes! it slid right in. Happy camper me. I bought a second tray cause I need something plastic to put an egg carton on. (I plan to plant garden seeds in the egg carton, getting ready for garden planting.)
The stand and tray ably hides the pipe, at least from the front side. It looks nice there- like an art installation. Rufus got his social time while I laughed at myself.

We had a white pipe sticking out of the ground, at our first house. It was so ugly! So, I planted flowers that covered it up, fairly well. The next house, it was a gas meter! Ugly? Yes, why did they stick it on the front of the house, instead of on the side? Crazy! Both you and Rufus had a great venture:)

@kobesbuddy My daughter laughed at me. She just paid about 5 thousand dollars for a sewer pipe and now won't have so many plumbing issues. She is proud of the pipe and delighted to see it at the front of her property.

@kobesbuddy That's fantastic that your son can do that work. That would save money- and its good of your son to do that dirty job.

@sallypup We needed plumbing replaced, under our last home. My son spent the best part of a day, putting it in. Yes, it cost a small fortune!

@AmbiePam I'm sorry you were rejected when you tried to volunteer. I am currently using a Chromebook and it is not delighted to work with photos. I am hoping that soon I will have a regular laptop and then I will be back to harassing folks with photos.

I used to enjoy going to the thrift stores When I had guardianship of my granddaughter I would buy most of her school clothes for the next year at thrift stores and yard sales. She had a lot of cute clothes.
Do you soak your seeds before you put them in the egg carton to sprout?
