Flood Warning

Rain's a comin" April showers and all, we are getting plenty of rain in these next two days. Our farmers need the good early rains. and then dry periods so they can plow, till, and plant their fields. Gardeners need the same. They say that if you want to see faith in action, watch a farmer. Each year the planting and growing seasons depend on balanced rain and sunshine. But each year is different. Sometimes we have very dry summers and other times the springs are far too wet. But without farmers, we don't eat. Anything. Especially people living in the cities where there is no way for them to grow their own food whether plant or animal. I think this rain is early enough to not cause a problem for the farmers.

I agree. Back when I was growing up, the saying was for corn, "Knee high by the fourth of July." Now it is almost fully grown by the fourth of July.

@capirani Same here. And silly gardeners see them planting and start theirs. We were laughing at the neighbors a few years ago. They had already set a lot of plants out and we had a freeze warning. They were having to cover each plant. I had a lot of my plants but they were on a cart. One tarp and we were done

@wolfgirl569 My mom was a gardener, raised by a gardener. She taught me to never plant before the last week of May as we can still get snow and killing frosts. I generally abide by that, but the past couple of years, I planted early May instead and it worked out. Lucky probably.

Same here. It isn't always the hours. It's how many days in a row that it rains.

No rain here these days just sunny skies, I hope the farmers don't get too much rain just enough to start planting and getting things growing,

I know that the nurseries are continuing to dig trees. I hope the farmers are on schedule. Have a good day.
