No Electricity, No Cell Phone Service, No Internet All Day

The storm blew through here in the early hours of the morning. It was really storming when I first woke up and since I knew I had to work at the boutique today, I went back to sleep until the alarm when off. Shortly after the alarm when off the electricity went out. Usually, it is not out for very long, but we had rain in forecast for all day long. We both had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and I got my things together and dressed to leave. I decided to leave early and got out of the house around 11 am. I stopped in town to pay my water bill which was due today. The rain had stopped right before I left home and I had a very nice drive into Louisiana and the boutique. Since there were major power outages due to lots of trees down on the power lines, there was not much traffic on the roads. It was a quiet day at the boutique and I rearranged some of my shelves, and worked on tagging some new products and adding some things to my clearance. All in all, it was a good day. And much better than being in the dark all day without cell phone service or internet. Our services did not boot back up until after 4 pm. I think I would have been entertaining myself outside in that case. Did this massive storm pass though your hometown? Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

We had bad weather last week here in Kentucky. I was watching the coverage on WWLT out of New Orleans with the flooding and the tornado in Slidell; and later on the Mobile, Alabama station when the bad weather reached there (and promptly flooded the causeway). Thankful to hear there were no fatalities. Thankful, too, that you didn’t have any problems.

I just got done seeing how bad it got in Slidell & they say they had a tornado that tore everything up, I hate it when people get wioed out by bad weather, it's hard enough trying to stay afloat with the economy as it is now this.

Right, the tornado in Slidell did a lot of damage and in the historic district of Slidell.

Yes, the one is Slidell was not too far from where I grew up! It took out a very historic area there. Sad!

Nice that you could still get out & do what you had to do & still have a plesent day to enjoy it all even without power. We got rain pretty much all day but nothing serious to worry about to knock out power just a nice gentle rain.

@2ndchances24 Awesome, and that is certainly great news. I've been through house flooding and that is how we ended up in Mississippi, originally from Louisiana. My house is up on a hill here

@LadyDuck Ours has been back and forth since the beginning of March. We will be back in the 80 tomorrow, as we were today. Just kicked the low's of 40's out the door again and back to lows in the 50's now.

I saw the weather map last night and saw the warnings across the south. I'm not surprised your power was out. I'm glad it came back by 4. We aren't in on your system. However, the one that hit us a few days ago had people without power for a couple of days.

Power outages are not good. I don't understand why we don't have underground wiring here in the U.S.!!

Yes, the towers were all down! I remember a hurricane years ago when cell pones and internet, cable TV and electricity were all out for over 10 days. It was like camping out at home. Everyone BQ'd meals outdoors.

We had an absolute downpour that had me praying that our electricity would not go out. It didn’t thankfully. I’m glad yours came back on in time for you not to go most of the day without it.
