Shredding

United States
April 12, 2024 9:48am CST
I am going to do this right now. I have so many pieces of mail to shred. It has to be done. I fill a big plastic container as I get them and then shred them about once a month. I also have boxes from products delivered to take the labels off and shred those too. This complex has a number of suspects that steal your ID, so it is vital to do this. They go through the dumpsters and trash here. Do you shred your stuff?

@RebeccasFarm I'm fortunate to have sisters who love their brother so much.

I know there are folks around that go through everyone's trash for recyclables and whatever else . . . so we shred the important stuff too.

I did until my shrewder quit working. Now I just peel off the labels and black out information and than cut real small with scissors.

That's good, but it hurts your hands does it to have to cut a lot of stuff?

@jstory07 I am going to start doing that instead Judy..it is silly to have to take an hour to shred

@RebeccasFarm No I just cut each piece when I receive it. Not a lot at a time.

Sure do! My shredder gets a workout every so often. So much mail and other paperwork accumulates in such a short time. Quite a bit junk mail offers from banks for credit cards and stuff like that.

I do not put recyclables in the trash. I gave it to an old neighbor. But I don't shred papers. Should I do that?

Well I do, so that no one can steal identity.

I usually shred annually, usually late winter or early spring. I just finished the shredding last weekend. It is thrown into the garbage over the course of over a month because I also worry about someone going through the garbage or it being knocked over and scattered everywhere.

I would have a mountain to shred if I waited a year..I really should do it as it comes..would save me sitting for an hour doing it.

It's not such a big concern here. I'd just tear paper up into small pieces.
