Men get cysts too

About 2 weeks back my son learned in school that testicular cancer hits some boys around the age he is and they should do self exams like women should do breast exams. He felt two pea size lumps one in each and wanted to get them checked out which was wise. I get cysts all over and wondered if that’s what he could have but wasn’t sure if men get them or if women’s are just related to hormones and polycystic ovary syndrome etc. His doctor’s appointment was yesterday and it was just cysts. That’s very good news. He will stop wearing underwear to bed but other than that nothing really can be done and they aren’t painful. The photo is unrelated. It’s a photo of the birds my husband got awhile back for hunting with. I think it was a quail if I remember correctly. Either that or a Chucker.

It was very mature of him to seek out medical attention, young people can be shy when it comes to such things.

@Juliaacv he has always been much more mature then other kids his age. He’s a wonderful kid and I’m glad it’s just cysts and that he was able to talk to me about it.

Yes, men also can get cysts. I am glad you got good news from the doctor. At least those are not painful. Pretty bird.

@LadyDuck the cysts I get are very painful especially if touched or bumped so I’m thankful the ones he has aren’t.

@LadyDuck birth control can help with some it helped my ovarian ones but not fully. I think when I was having my C-section they cut one out. I haven’t felt the pain from it since I had her and I know I’m every ultrasound I had while pregnant it was still there.

@shaggin I am sorry, that must be painful. I am glad that mine disappeared. I remember that my gynecologist prescribed something.

@RebeccasFarm me too. I got thinking I couldn’t even imagine how I’d handle if he did have testicular cancer. It’s so scary to think of your child sick or worse.

Good for your son for checking. Men can get cysts, too. I’m happy that he’s fine.

I'm glad your son was aware enough to see a doctor. Many young men would be reluctant to speak to a doctor about that issue. Have a good day.

@LindaOhio or to tell their moms. I’m glad he was brave enough to talk to both of us too.

@grenery8 actually its thanks to the school teaching this that my son checked so they raised awareness which helped us and hopefully helps other boys. It’s better to have it checked out then not so I’m glad we got it checked and found out it’s just cysts.

Cysts are not just caused by hormones. It is surprising when they show up.

@GardenGerty yeah I always thought they were a girl thing until now. I guess my grandfather got them real bad all over like I do and my father gets them as well and has ones that have never gone away.

Glad it wasn't anything serious, smart to get them checked though.

You son would have been pretty worried. So good to know they're only cysts. That's a pretty little bird. it looks like a quail to me but I wouldn't know a chucker if I fell over one.

@Judyev I think it is a quail but this is my first time seeing whatever it is in person so I could be wrong. My son had me worried too after I got thinking about it so I’m glad it was just cysts.

That's good he could tell you and that it's just cysts. Any one can get cysts anywhere. I had one on my head.
