He should have gone

Thursday Bob thought he MIGHT be experiencing an equipment malfunction with his catheter. The plan was that he would go to the VA urology clinic on Friday. Friday he decided he did not have a problem, same Saturday. He got up this morning with the same problem, we did what we could about it here at home. I did not go to church. We want him in tip top shape for the hyperbaric treatment, so . . . . he is at the VA emergency room, which will take longer. And the experts are not there and it will cost more. They may have to call someone in if the people in the emergency room cannot handle the situation. VA is not free any more than any other medical facility. I refused to go. He could have gone Friday and I have things here that must be done. It is not life threatening, more embarrassing and annoying. He could have gone Friday. On the home front I am reorganizing cabinets and small appliances and making stock up type foods.

I like the idea of him being ready for a fresh start tomorrow. Even at 78 we can still learn lessons. I know that the Friday before Easter he thought there was a problem and went in to the clinic. The nurse did not find a problem. I believe Bob was afraid it would happen again. He had a blockage that had to be cleared.

At least he is finally getting help. Reorganizing a kitchen is a huge job. Take care.

I know I was glad for him to go. I do not go into too many details about his situation as it is TMI. I want things more functional, but still waiting on the next step of a new furnace.

Thinking about it, he went in last month thinking there was a problem, right before Easter and there was none. He probably thought he was being paranoid about it. I am glad for the fact that he was seen and what was needed was done. He is in good shape for tomorrow.

If he had not gone today the pressure in the hyperbaric chamber would have made him very uncomfortable.

If a wife suggest they go to get something fixed, the husband often puts it off. Yes, Friday would have been a better, he remembers.

This has been a long learning journey. We are hoping that with the treatment he starts tomorrow some of these issues will be resolved.

@GardenGerty Every time we enter into a treatment center, it's a frightening experience! We never know what to expect:(

Yes, men are good at procrastinating going for medical care! You would think they would learn, but no, not happening.

If I could have gotten him by phone Friday I would have insisted he go, but he did not turn it on. I am going to start turning it on before I leave the house.

@GardenGerty Yes, you do need to be able to reach him when you are at work.

He sounds like any other man I've ever met. Wait until a problem gets to the point you need to seak outside help.

It is better than it used to be, but I think his "common sense" has gotten broken. This situation has been so bad in the past that he had to go by ambulance.

He is good to go for a week or two anyway. This is a recurring issue and is part of what the hyperbaric treatment will hopefully help.

Oh yes, I am glad he at least went today. He would have been very uncomfortable in treatment tomorrow.

I would be quite annoyed really. By putting it off it's caused more problems and expense. But sometimes it's hard to know if you need to get help or not.

Yes, he should have gone earlier. Better late than never. Hope he gets the right help and things are fixed soon. Reorganizing cabinets can be a lot of work at times. Hope that everything goes smoothly.
