Rescued Manatee Gets Home in SeaWorld

A manatee was rescued on September 2021. He was found in the Weeki Wachee River and it was thought he would not survive. Then he made a recovery at ZooTampa and was released in the wild in August 2022. The manatee named Flapjack was later transported to his new home in SeaWorld for further care and rehabilitation. So glad this manatee had so many people caring for him. He now has a good home, a place to relax, and food to eat. Photo shows how manatees recover at SeaWorld

My Ice Princess would love to know that, too. We saw manatees here in our backyard. So happy this one has recovered and doing well.

@DianneN I love how these creatures look as well as their cousins dugongs. Your Ice Prnicess could make a nice career if she chooses marine biology at places like Sea World,

@RasmaSandra Dugongs are wonderful creatures, too. The Ice Princess seems to know her oceans and inhabitants. And my younger son can name almost every fish and sea creature. Bunch of nuts in this family, but good hearted ones who appreciate animals, people, birds, and sea life. I hope she doesn’t lose interest once she gets to college.

My nephew once saw manatees on YouTube and asked me what they were called. We've never seen one in person before.

Glad to hear the manatee has a good home now. He will be well cared for at Sea World and who knows, may learn some tricks and perform for guests! You never know!!

That’s cool. I had such a great time seeing them under the glass-bottom boat at Silver Spring. They are magnificent creatures!

Aww. I'm glad Flapjack is being cared for. I love manatees. Saw my first one in the wild in 2000 when we went to the Keys and Everglades. Have a good week.
