Holiday program for 5 consecutive days

In the near future, we will have a holiday 5 consecutive days. I'm thinking about how to arrange the children's holidays? The weather is too sunny to participate in outdoor activities. We also couldn't just go to the mall to play games or go to the movies for 5 days?! Do you have any ideas?

My friend in Hanoi says it's been really hot and sticky over there that she'd rather stay cooped in her house most of the time. I know how challenging it can be to keep your young children entertained at home for like a week. When my girls were small, we got them a doll house and all the little toys that they can put in it. It kept them busy for like 4 to 5 hours every day because they'd make stories out of the characters in that doll house. My husband also gave them an old camcorder which they used to "film" a show called "Dolland News" -- complete with opening segments and background music. Haha. We still have a few of those videos and they're so funny! Other stuff that kept them busy: Play-Doh, bath tub with rubber duckies and other plastic toys (they'd take a bath for 2 hours!), a small tent where they could go camping "indoors", Lego stuff or anything that they can build, origami papers and cut-out paper dolls, etc. We also played a lot of board game and card games. Sometimes we'd make pancakes or bake cookies. At bedtime, I would read aloud a book for them until they fall asleep. Hope this helps. I hope you enjoy your long holiday.

When my children were younger, I'd try to take them out someone for one or two days over a holiday period - depending on the weather and finances, it might be a museum, a park, a steam railway, a castle, or other heritage/entertainment venues. I'd try and get them outside daily to a local park or a walk, perhaps picking berries from nearby fields. The rest of the time, we might arrange to visit a friend or family (or invite them to us). We'd have game days where we would play various games together, mixing up board games/tabletop games with computer games. We'd have baking days or painting days. I spent time teaching them some of my hobbies. Anything creative or that we could enjoy together.

Great ! Thank you very much for the suggestions. The weather in Hanoi is even more unpleasant than here. I'm planning on having the holiday at home like what you said.

@pumpkinjam How wonderful! That's what we did on vacation last year. But this year the weather is too hot. It hasn't rained in over 4 months. And the temperature is often too high!

It's easy for us. Mainly the kids. Maybe we'll stay home and learn to play chess :)

We will go swimming, of course. But the park here is also very hot. We probably wouldn't choose.

Oh, chess is such a good suggestion. My children still don't know how to play. We will study together.
