Bob's new phone arrived. I was having a hard time setting it up. I was not real selective when I ordered it. It is using kaiOS as an operating system.
I did get it done, through chat with a tracfone agent. Actually they just did it for me. One of the problems was that in order to keep his number they needed to verify his identity and wanted to text the old phone. When I got on chat, I explained that, gave them the number and the new IMEI for the new phone and they did it. His other phone was android and the contacts did not move over, but we will deal with that.
He always liked flip phones and this one is a flip phone. It is a learning curve, though. So I am pulling my hair out. I put myself in his phone as a contact and his sister Arlene, so he is practicing with his new phone by talking to her.
We will get proficient with this phone, I am sure.
It is called a Blu Flex and was only 19.99 so if it frustrates too much we can afford to change again.

He never really got used to the smart phones that are like mine, a big flat screen and so on. This one has actual buttons.

as long as he can use it to message and call, I think that is the important thing

He can make and receive calls and that is what is important.

He can make and receive calls. I will add contacts in for him a little bit at a time.

If it were not for the fact that I work out of town and he often goes to doctors out of town I would have just let it go, but he was feeling antsy and isolated without a phone.

We never did get smart phones. Our basic flip phones were enough for our needs. I hope Bob can figure it all out.
