1968 - Rosemary's Baby Based on Ira Levin's book, Rosemary's Baby is a psychological horror film, written and directed by Roman Polanski. Ruth Gordon (Minnie Castevet) won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award; and Roman Polanski was nominated for Best Screenplay. Rosemary Woodhouse (Mia Farrow) and her husband, Guy (John Cassavetes) tour the Bramford, a Manhattan apartment. Despite warnings from their friend, Hutch, about the Bramford's questionable past, they move in. Their neighbors, Minnie (Ruth Gordon) and Roman (Sidney Blackmer) Castevet, invite Rosemary and Guy to dinner. Rosemary thinks that the Castevets are meddlesome; and Rosemary is shocked when Minnie offers her a pendant worn by a young woman who jumped from the Castevet's 7th floor apartment. The pendant contains tannis root. Minnie stops by the Woodhouse apartment uninvited. Guy is not bothered by Minnie's meddling and visits Roman several times. Rosemary becomes pregnant while she is half asleep; and what follows is eerie and disturbing. Photo Credit: Pixabay

@LindaOHio - He has this bad habit, when something is not of his interest he throws. But I must never get rid of his stuff!

I never watched that one. And not because of Roman Polanski’s “misdeeds”. My parents were really strict, and while I’ve seen MANY classic movies, few are horror ones. I did though, as an adult, see The Birds.

I enjoy that pic of the monster. Ira did quite a good job story telling. Ruth Gordon is always so enjoyable no matter what kind of character she is portraying.

Rosemary's Baby was a strange horror one. There have been some good ones over the years like The Exorcist, The Omen, Scream, and of course the Freddy Kruger and Halloween series. Fun fact: Mia Farrow's marriage to Frank Sinatra ended because she went against Sinatra's interests and made that movie. Another fun fact: Ruth Gordon appeared in the Clint Eastwood films in Every Which Way but Loose as his mom (the one with the Orangutan).

It has been a long time since I have seen this movie, and might add this to my list of "ones to watch" provided I can stream it without paying an extra fee. This was a good one.

Yes. Very creepy. The scene where Mia Farrow eats the raw meat is disgusting.

Wow, I feel like NJ Chic: nope. That was way too early for me to see on my own, and I had (and have) no interest in the subject matter as an adult.
