The Disappearance of Autumn

This year we feel like autumn is playing shy.
We have not really enjoyed many days of the lovely fall weather. This usually arrives towards the end of August and last until the late part of October. Of course every year is different, and 2025 is really living up to that theory.
The normal daytime highs for my region for today are 15-17C but today's high is forecasted for 28-29C. We are having a drought, it has been quite a while since we have had any rain, and that almost evaporated.
This change in weather makes those of us who adore the cool and crisp feeling of autumn miss it. But it is also affecting our crops. Our fruit trees are having smaller yields, as well our farmer's crops are yielding what they should.
The other frightening thought is that with this heat and dryness we are at risk of wildfires-our region has a no burn order in effect.
Yesterday, while outside, I actually got my first October sunburn. How weird is that, and how weird is the weather in your area?

This year 2025 showed an incredibly weird weather. We had almost no winter. January and February were sunny and warm, May was even too hot, then the rain came and summer has been more humid and with a lot of rain. Now Autumn is dry and sunny, but definitely colder than the past years. I wonder if we are going to have a warmer November.

We have such extreme changes to our weather-that is as a result of global warming.
To see apples hanging on the trees, and left in the hopes of them growing larger, only to have them rot in the hot sun, is a terrible thing to see. We saw this yesterday at the apple orchard.
Yesterday, the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team had a game.
They are Jonathon's favorite team, and he wore his Blue Jays shirt and had both of the girls wearing theirs, they looked so adorable. And to top it all off, they beat the NY Yankees 10-1, but there are of course more games to come.

@Juliaacv - We have the figs rotting on the trees, we had too much rain in September and now the nights are cold, they burst open on the tree and fell.
I am glad that Jonathon's favorite team won. Surely the girls were excited wearing the same shirts as their Dad.

@LadyDuck That is a shame that they rotted.
Klaudia had to go to her mother's home yesterday to clean as she is returning from Poland next weekend.
Without her parents, of course, but returning.
In her absence, they found that her home has alot of mice in it.
She had to go and clean as they got into her spice cupboard and made a terrible mess.
I hope that they will get an exterminator as they can chew wiring in a home and her mother already had a house fire years ago-I doubt that the insurance company would be too happy to help out if it occurred again.

We will be having a few warm days coming up starting today, but then the temps will only be in the 60's after that

@snowy22315 I picked up my bird yesterday morning, it isn't huge, but we aren't a huge family either.
But doing all of the mashed potatoes, and baking the squash adds to the heat.
I will likely do the rich mashed potatoes on Saturday, and then reheat them in a casserole the next day, it works out well and they taste just as good the following day.

Even our nights are warm, it is such an odd year.
I am so over these hot temperatures lasting for so long.
Out west in BC, they are feeling the coziness of autumn weather, and our weather goes from west to east, so hopefully it will drift over here.
Next weekend we celebrate Thanksgiving, and we usually have a bit of warmth, but to cook a turkey in this heat wouldn't be fun.

I would be a bit forlorn myself. I hope you get the fall weather. We are having some nice days with a bit of rain mixed in for a change.

I love your door wreath. It certainly says Fall.
Our weather has been on the warm side and im still wearing short sleeves. Looks like rain for either tomorrow or Wednesday but I think we have had a pretty dry season so far.

The middle of this week is going to be very chilly; and the nighttime temps will be close to freezing. That should get the trees to start changing. We could really use some rain.

We have alot of oranges and browns and reds, but with the temperatures remaining so warm at night, we haven't had alot of the vibrant yellows appear.
We are probably a week or so out from peak.
Next weekend is Thanksgiving, and it is nice to have a cool day to make and eat such a meal.

I find the weather much more unpredictable and erratic although it hasn't been too 'out of sorts' here.
