Please tell me why you started to smoke cigarettes and why do you keep smoking?

When I was a kid, the fight against smoking was just starting. I remember encouraging my dad to give up his pipe even though it hadn't been proven bad at that time. Eventually he listened to me and also decided he didn't like his pipe anymore.
As I grew older the warnings against smoking including the caveat on the packages got sterner. The price went up. Some folks gave it up for certain reasons and others for another reason.
When I was in college I smoked for a very short time. I soon found out my sinuses couldn't take it because I was actually allergic and I only really only did it socially anyway.
As the years go buy, the cautions on cigarette packages have become warnings. In Canada, ugly pictures of cancers are posted on the packages with the warnings. The price is even more than 10 times than the first price I remember in my life. Each time the price goes up, some people quit. Now they have banned smoking in many public places, more people have quit.
Are you a smoker? Why did you start? Do you want to quit? Why haven't you quit?
