Who is better Indira Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi?

In my opinion Indira Gandhi is one of the best leaders and prime ministers India has had. Except for the emergency which was controversial decision, you can't fault her for anything. She had the ability to take bold, landmark decisions. getting bangladesh freedom by defeating pakistan must be a feather in her cap.

i too think Indira was the best .. after all sonia gandhi is jus the shadow of Rajiv and came to power circumstantially and not naturally

I am not Indian, so I am viewing this from abroad. I would say Sonia Gandhi is better than Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi did a lot of illegal things (including suspending democracy during her state of emergency). During her period India stagnated when she should have been surging ahead. It is Indira's fault that China overtook India (at the time of Nehru, China was behind India). China was opening up her economy, and Indira was more interested in focusing on her enemies. Sonia Gandhi by contrast seems to have put India's interests first. She campaigned hard to get the Congress party elected, and then stood aside to let the smarter person (Mr M Singh) to become prime minister. It's hard to find any other leader in the world who would put their country's interests first like that.

do we compare heaven with hell. i fell indira is much better than sonia . since who is sonia gandhi? does she has any existance without gandhi - the tag? indira gandhi was the p m of the country i feel indira is better thansonia

I don't have a full knowledge of the two so i can't realy tell whose better.

Undoubtedly Indiraji is the best leader among the world leaders. Next Rajiv gandhi, then after soniaji. When Indiraji took decision, immediately world leaders lookafter that, then they can implement in their nation also. Such a bold steps took by indiraji is most courageous women in era of Indian history.
