For a few days my back has been sore and stiff, right across the lower back. It is sore to bend forwards or backwards. I haven´t had any sporting injuries or fallen. I am going to see the Doc tomorrow about this. Anyone else got a similar ache?

It happened to me before. It turns out I merely strained it without realising it and just had to do some stretching exercises to relax the muscles.

Use a metallised heat-reflecting sheet between the mattress and the bottom sheet of your bed. (Look in your first-aid kit!) This is an easy and effective way to apply extra heat to the back, and works better than electric heating pads and hot water bottles. The heat of course is free, and it's amazing how much of it the body can generate. (Source: oldnaturalremedies.com)

Great idea, Sweetcakes, I will try that tonight (although we don´t have a "first aid kit" - will a piece of tinfoil do? I used to have a "space blanket" - you know those blankets made of silver heat reflective material but I have no idea what happened to that.

Well if it is a kidney infection you can drink some non sugar cranberry juice. It's harsh on the tongue but it is a really easy thing to get. Anyway usually kidney infections are on one side or another not the entire lower back. You probably just need to stretch it out. :)

Ouch indeed. Nothing can be more painful or irritating than a sore back. I hope it's something that goes away soon and I'm sorry you're having problems with it. I once injured my lower back by trying Karate. I went to the doctor and got some prescription anti-inflammatory medication and that helped a great deal.

I have had back problems over the past few years, and my best purchase was an inversion machine, which lets me hang upside down. I bought a few years ago on ebay for $200. I eveen have friends come over and use it from time to time.

Yeah i often feel the similar ache, which i had since after birth of my baby. Some times it become severe that i could not sit or bent and other times i feel okk. but pain is still there. Some times advil does work to reduce pain. but it would be better to consult your doctor first.
