I can't believe these little kids walking around and using cell phone. I could see them for kids who talk a bus to school but come on. I see these kids on my sons school grounds whipping out these phones and texting one another when their standing right there! Whatever happened to using a home phone and ringing someone's doorbell? What do you think,am i wrong for feeling this way?

I think it makes parents lazy to give there child a phone with a tracking device. What is your child some sort of dog. I mean come on the humane society puts a tracking device in a dog incase they get lost. It sounds to me like these parents don't trust there kids so they have to make themselves feel better. But If you don't trust your kids then why are you letting them out of the house? If I don't trust my son he will keeps his happy azz at home until he can be trusted. BOTTOM LINE!

I don't think kids should have cell phones. I know most parents think it's necessary so that they can know the whereabouts of the child or the child can contact them during emergencies. But I find that even older kids tend to misuse the cell phone and it's not used the way their parents intended it to be used. I've also see the level of English coming down with kids who communicate mostly using cell phones smsing their friends. So,I feel either kids shouldn't have cell phones or they should have cell phones where they aren't allowed to send sms or make calls except to an emergency number like 911.

I dont think they even need them on the bus if something happens the driver will call the the school or the police. I didnt get a phone till I was 17 and only because i am responsible. I dont think anyone younger than 17 needs one the kids should focus on their school not on calling or texting their friend who is 5ft from them.

I do not think kids should have a cell phone with them.. it will damage some of the good habits that has to be developed in their childhood and also it is harmfull for their helth as a cell phone releases as much radiation as a microwave oven.. it will hampe their brain cells even in adults also

My boyfriends little brother is 9 years old and we just bought him one and his 14 year old sister we bought her one too. There are cheap phones that you can get and they don't come with a contract they come with minutes you can purchase every time you want minutes. . Try Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, etc. Cingular, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wirless have them too .. but Boost and Virgin are best for little kids.

i completely agree with you. I think it's crazy that these little kids have cell phones these days. if they have after-school activities or something like that, the parents should get them those firefly (or whatever they're called) cell phones. Those things are programmed to only call 4 numbers. That way you can program the parents' number, perhaps a relative and 2 other important people. These phones can be used so the child can call and ask for a ride or let their parents know they're running late etc. In this case i think it's okay... but giving a child a full-blown cell phone... that's jsut crazy.

Well i dont think is necessary.Indeed years have changed but i was a child 10 years ago.I didnt have a mobile, and parents learn to trust. But of course in sometimes in excursions or so it would be nice, easier to communicate.

giving kids cell phones have its advantages and disadvantages, the advantage would be they can call you or you can call them in times of emergency or for somthing not that important, and the disadvantage would be they might over use and harm their studies.

i think it's a bit of both.. firstly cell phone does damage to your ears, you don't really notice it until you are old. Cell phone are tiny expensive device, therefore kids like 10 -15 may not be responsible enough to take care of it. It's good to have it when it's emergency uses. However, the other uses is bad for teenagers like constant texting, playing games in it .... well it's up to the parent on this thing..
