Do you get annoyed by people who complain all the time?

Does it bother you to hear someone complain all the time, whether it is work related or anything else? What do you say to that person or do you try to ignore them? I know it annoys me if i hear a coworker or friend who complains nonstop about things and never has anything positive or good to say.

Is your glass half full or half empty? - half full or half empty?
It bothers me a lot. I'm a true optimist and rarely will see the glass half empty. I get annoyed with those who always have something to complain about and to be honest will remove myself from being around them as much as possible!

I believe in optimism myself and try and stay away from the negativity and the complaining. It is not healthy for that person or for us.

Absolutely!! These people are not only annoying but can be a danger to your health. They are energy vampires who feed off of YOUR good humor and energy, by their constant complaining which can leave you very tired and upset by the time they have departed. Most of these people are also excuse makers. They have an excuse for why they cannot follow any advice you may be kind enough to offer them. Nothing is going to work for these people except the incessant complaining. They should be paying a counselor to listen to all of this but instead they have their friends to do it for free.

I usually try to ignore such people, but as you say they can be very annoying. Some people seem to think that evrything should permanently go their way and feel that anything other than that is totally wrong. The British are especially good at complaining about the work they have to do and the pay that they receive for it. I am constantly amazed at the attitudes of my own countryfolk.

It is probably best to ignore people that complain all the time so that we do not get annoyed or upset too much. We have a lot of complainers in our country as well.

Actually, it does bother me. At first, I would start pointing out the bright side to try to teach that person there is something to be grateful for. I have a lot of patience, so me trying to teach the person this would go on for a while. But even I have a breaking point. At some point, I would have to ask the person if they have anything nice to say at all. If you know me, that is me getting upset. After that, I start to just ignore the person...not truly ignore but not truly hear the person. So, today...blah, blah, blah, blah...There! The person just became the Peanuts Teacher!

I loved your comment. I too have a lot of patience but at some point I will get upset or annoyed and will say something about it. We all complain a little bit from time to time but the ones that do it constantly gets on my nerves. You have a great attitude. Thanks. :-)

Thank you for commenting and they do irritate me as well. We should be very fortunate with what we have because there are many people who are less fortunate.

I actually feel sorry for them, imagine what kind of life they are having if all they have to do is complain. They must have a sad life. I try to stay upbeat and positive about life. I see the glass half full instead of half empty. The complainers see the glass half empty.

I try to stay positive and upbeat as well and try to avoid those that complain all the time. Makes you wonder what makes them complain so much. Seeing the glass half full is so much better than half empty. Thanks. :-)

For me, this is one of the most annoying and unnecessary things about being human. I usually just try to avoid people who are constantly negative, but if I can't avoid them, I try to chnage the subject or turn the conversation around to something positive. I even sometimes ask people what they do like about a certain situation because sometimes they don't realize that all they do is talk about the negative aspects of something.

i hate it when they complained and do nothing about it...especially when a co-worker complained endlessly about the job, it took him 2 years before he leave the job. it's very easy for me, dont complain...Find a New Job!!!! first, i will advise them to find a new job or try to say some positive words but if after 3-4 times, they are still like that, i will ignore them totally.

I have had coworkers just like you that complained all the time. I keep telling them if you don't like the job or the way they do things, then why don't you leave and find another job just like you said. It is best to try and ignore them.

I know also some people who are complaining all the time. Whatever happens, they always found something to complain about, and they unerringly find out the negative in everything they see. My opinion is, the best we can do is just to ignore them. It's impossible to change their attitudes, because I noticed, they have fun doing it. How someone is able to enjoy complaining? It's a mystery...

I agree as well and also try to steer clear from complainers. I always try to be positive and be happy and you are right that it does drain a persons energy. One of my former coworkers was like that and it drove me nuts.

When I am terribly stressed I tend to complain a lot but I am trying not to. Things could be a lot worse. Having a health issue can be a wake up call too.

Yeah, it can get annoying when I am trying to keep a positive outlook on something and others around me seem to only be interested in the negative aspects.

I always keep a positive attitude about things. Granted we all complain about things from time to time but complaining all the time drives me nuts. I want to be around people that focus on the positive things.

U cant do anything to stop these people from keeping on complaining again and again. These people are better to be left alone with their annoying attitude and behaviour.

Yes, I do get annoyed by people who whine all the time. Depending on how much contact I have with the person, I either excuse myself, or complain about their complaining!
