Who is your favorite author?

I love Dean Koontz! He's either crazy, or extremely clever! I think it's clever! The ideas he comes up with! My favorite is "Twilight Eyes", and then "Lightning". But it's hard to choose, they're all so good. Some of his latest ones have a good moral in this increasingly strange world. I also like James Patterson, especially the Alex Cross adventures. Used to love Mary (something) Clarke, can't even remember her name! She died a while back. She wrote thrillers, like "Where Are The Children?"

Yep, I remembered her name later! I hate that! Used to bug me when I was young, now I just forget about it. One time I woke up with a word in my head I'd been trying to think of the day before! I love history, so I should search out some older biographies, love the settings and slower, differnt times...

Dean Koontz - discussion on books and Dean Koontz, Mary Higgins Clark and James Patterson
Dean Koontz became my favorite after Stephen King did a book only on the net back when I did not have the net and did not have access to a computer. Intensity was my favorite book!!! Was that Mary Higgins Clark?

My favorite, of many, is James Pattersen. I love the way he gets you on the first page. I cannot put his books down. I like Mary Higgens Clark too. I never got into Dean Koontz. Isn't he a little satanic?

...he quotes from the book of shadows sometimes (I'm not sure what that is) but he makes mention of the Lord too, and some of his more recent books are exposing things like the push for euthanasia for the old, weak and handicapped, and the medical lottery discussions going on in some university circles.. eerie stuff this.. the proposed eventual medical lottery is the ethic question: is it more humane to heal a guy or let him die and use his organs to save, say, five other lives - yes this discussion is occurring between some talking heads.. I get the sense he's a christian, even a conservative, but not too fundamentalist or bible thumping.. His books always have a motto and redeeming quality.. I quit Stephen King cause he's too dark.. Have you read any of James Patterson's winged children books or series? They're great! And they remind me of Koontz, who has a long list of books like that.. :))

My favorite author has always been Joy Adamson ("Born Free" among many others). I just love the way she tells her stories about her animals. I know she's not the best writer, but she seems geniune and had a lot of unique life experiences. I read a lot of other books, but none are as close to my heart as her. I guess one of my favorite fiction authors in Tony Hillerman (though I'm not much of a mystery fan). I also like C.S. Lewis, too.

I don't have favorate authors.Only favorate books. Scaramouche by Rafael Sabatini. When his best friend, a young clergyman, is killed in a mockery of a duel by an arrogant noble, just to quiet his eloquent expressions of democratic ideals, Andre-Louis Moreau vows revenge. From that point, through meteoric careers as a consummate actor and scenario writer, then as a fencing master, and finally a politician, the brilliant Moreau keeps thwarting the aims of the aristocratic Marquis de la Tour d'Azyr. However, the nobleman causes pain to Moreau as well, and the time must come when the two will meet to settle their enmity once and for all. You are not likely to guess how their confrontation finally turns out. Set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, this swashbuckling novel is exciting throughout, and it presents one of the most dashing heroes in fiction, a man who can fight equally well with his mind, his mouth, his pen, and his sword, a man who stirs up events wherever he goes. Dresden file book series by Jim Butcher. There are 8 books in the series beginning with stormfront. It narrates the story of Harry Dresden, chicago's only professional wizard who works as a detective. He stands between the general population who is ignorant about the supernatural world and the monsters - vampires, werewolves, fallen angels, fey. He is aided by Bob,a talking skull.Karrin Murphy-a police officer and Thomas-a white court vampire. Another good series is the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. The books provide an alternate take on vampires.People who are unjustly murdered call upon Artemis(Greek goddess) and she grants them a day to avenge themselves. After that they are recruited to her army to fight against evil. These are romance novels.Best of the series are 'Dance with the devil' and 'Seize the night'. Reilly's Luck by Louis L'Amour. Its a western.A young boy is abandoned by his own mother(she tells her boyfriend to kill him)The boy ends up with a gambler and he brings him up.Turns out to be the best gamble he ever made. The boy grows up and later kills the people who murdered the gambler. The Daybreakers,Fair blows the wind,Galloway are also good books by the same author.

The Dresden file book series, and Dark Hunter series sound real interesting! I'll have to check them out.. I read quite a few Louis L'mour books, but the best one was the first one I read, which was "Jubal Cain" (or "Kane"(?) - as he wove so very much nature detail in it.. I think I'll read that book again.. Some of the other titles you mentioned sound familiar..
