Movies You Would NOT Recommend?

DO NOT RECOMMEND - Movies you DO NOT RECOMMEND

People always share their favorite movies, movies they liked or that they would recommend.... what about the movies you just had to see but were seriously disappointed in? Are there movies you hated or would add to a DO NOT RECOMMEND list? Which ones? Why? I will list a couple of movies I rented or bought that I would add to my DNR list: American Wedding~ (we loved American Pie and bought all of the sequels) American Wedding wasn't nearly as funny as the rest. It was more dramatic than comedic. Superman~ (we rented it because my hubby has a thing for superhero/comic made movies and we loved the original) This was a 2 1/2 hour flop if you ask me! I couldn't believe they stretched the story-line out that long when they could have summed things up in 1 1/2 hours, easy. Also, Superman looked so fake and computer generated that it made it difficult to buy into the story. Lord of the Rings~ This was the longest walk I've ever been on and the most boring too! The only cool part was when the trees were walking: ) Maybe, I should have read the book instead?

My choice is "Old School". It's not the type of movie I'd choose to watch anyway, but it was playing on a flight I was on, and I thought I'd give it a chance. I quite liked Will Farrel when he was on Saturday Night Live, and a few people I know had said that they'd found it funny. Wow, I wish I could have those two hours back, so I could have slept, read, or even just stared blankly at the seat-back in front of me. There just wasn't a single funny moment in the whole film.

Some of the worst films I've seen in recent times are 'Superman Returns' and 'Eragon'. Superman was supposed to be such a long-awaited return, and it was supposed to be breathtaking and awesome. It was getting 4 and 5 star reviews in every newspaper and it seemed like a really interesting film, the way critics spoke about it. However when I saw it, it was a complete waste of 2 and a half hours of my life. I nearly fell asleep. It was synthetic, painful and long-winded. The diaglogue was stilted and boring, using a lot of dramatic words with very little meaning. It was just horrible. Its the first time I've actually been distressed that I wasted two and a half hours of my life... Eragon was just a mockery of the book. It didn't introduce characters properly, cut out important storylines from the book, the dialogue was cheesy and gross, as well as the lame cheesy music and it was just too FAKE. I hated it! At least it only went for a litle over an hour and a half. If it went any longer I would have ripped my ears off.

Wasn't Ground Hog Day the one that he relived the same day over and over again? They should have rewrote that movie over and over again!!!

Swimfan... I wanted my time and my money back after wasting my time with that movie. I mean really. Two homely women fighting over an equally homely man in the typical high school set drama.

I knew a lot of people loved that movie and would dispute my choice and that's cool because we all have different likes, dislikes and opinions, in general.... keeps things interesting ; )

I loved LOTR and have been to many of the locations. My friend hated it. She didn't get it. She doesn't "get" SCI-FI/Fantasy and has a very limited imagination when it comes to those things.

most horror flicks are cheap and poorly made also adult films I think you need to be real careful and get only quality films. I also dont like to respond to the hype I usually wait to see if others I respect like the movie

We have one friend who has recommended or not recommended movies and we always feel the complete opposite when we watch them.... now we wait to hear his DNR and we know we'll like it, or vice versa. I'm glad he isn't a movie critic ; )

The Break Up - I thought that movie was seriously retarded. My mom says it's because I'm young and I'm not in a relationship, so I don't understand the issues in the movie. But when I see a trailer for a movie and it seems funny, it damn well better be funny! haha

I enjoyed the movie and not just because of the actors Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhal. The director made a film that was original.

I thought it was pretty good but I must say I blushed all the shades of the rainbow when well you know. It was at a totally unexpected spot in the movie or I thought anyway.

My dad and I used to have what we called the the worst movie marathon, because we had seen most of the good movies. It was kind of fun. Ok, well its been a few years since we did that. I would have to say that the movies I have seen that I thought were bad were: R.V (this movie doesn't even come close to Nation Lampoon's Vacation movies with Chey Chase), What Dreams May Come(what a boring movie) the Scary movie Series (boring), Cheaper By The Dozen(what happened to Steve Martin) and I think that is all I can thank of for now.

Good call! I went on a trip where I had to take 3 flights to get to my destination and 3 flights back. Cheaper by the Dozen was the movie on 4 out of the 6 flights (I think there was a screw up and they showed an Eastbound movie on a Westbound flight). By the third time, I was ready to jump.

I was a fan of "What Dreams May Come". We bought it on DVD and it has alternate endings. Robin Williams is one of my favorite actors/comedians, even though this wasn't a comedy.

well there are a lot of movies that i don't like out there. i will try to remember a few: Napoleon Dinamyte - how can people look at this stupidity? i've only looked at about 30 minutes of it because i just couldn't stand it. it was horrible. Lord of the Rings - a lot of people like it so i won't say anything about it, only that is long and boring. Star wars - just like lord of the rings.. long and boring. Fun with dicck and jane - the only bad movie of jim carry, it has no action, it is so boring at the beginin i am still wondering how did i stand watching it.. the end is pretty good but the first hour is just bad..

This response is copied and pasted from #2 on page 1... that is strictly against myLot rules and guidelines, besides it's disrespectful to the original poster, lazy, unimaginitive, and it's CHEATING myLot and the members who have taken the time to think and type out their responses! I hope that I'm not the only one to report you for it ; )

We were rolling on the floor laughing at Wedding Crashers but I totally agree with the other DNR's you listed. Napoleon Dynamite was recommended by so many people that it made it even worse because I was expecting something great. I do like the actor who played him though and he is funny in everything else I've seen him in.

Cabin Fever this has to be the worst film ever it was supposed to be a horror but, turned out to be a comedy. Although saying this it is good for a laugh. I hated Saw and won't be watching any more of them the sickest film ever in my opinion. I'm trying to think of more as there must be loads but, none seem to be jumping into my mind. I know there was the Grudge I just didn't see the point of it. I know there is loads more so I might come back to this. Excellent question by the way.

Thanks for the compliment and response. I thought of more DNR after starting the discussion too! The original "Friday" was funny and the rest totally sucked. That really long titled kids movie with Jim Carey was a huge disappointment too! Liminy Snickets or something??? I love Jim Carey but that movie was not good!
