What is the WORST JOB you've ever had? Why?

The worst job I ever had was: When I lived in Iowa, I had to clean-up hog dung from the pig sties. It was AWFUL!!! The smell would stay with you all day, all night. When I washed my clothes, the smell would still be in them. The dung would dry and turn into a fine dust that got into my lungs, so even when I was no where near the farm, I could still smell it. Now, what is the worst job YOU have ever had?

I own a contractor referral service. We are getting a lot of requests for new gutters this time of year. Want to come help hang a few more? Oh, come on! I'll let you supervise! lol

A pet photography job. They still owe me $1,600. That's why I quit. The funny thing is about this thread, I volunteer to clean up marine mammal poop for free! And I drive over an hour each way to do it. Hehe.

No thanks! Cleaning the rabbit litterboxes here is bad enough. ;) I only have to clean the sea lion poop up once a week for about a 7-10 hour shift.

Uh, can you volunteer to clean up Chunker's mess in the backyard? It's only about a twenty hour drive up here!

Wow, your story makes my worst job look absolutely pathetic. I worked as a dishwasher/food prep guy after high school and had to wash food off people's dishes, getting splashed by hot water and food 10 hrs a day. The worst part of the food prep duties was having to peel and chop onions-- one 50-pound bag at a time. I also had to trim surplus cuts of meat and grind it into hamburger. You know that saying that if people knew how sausage was made no one would eat it? Yeah, I felt that way about hamburger for a long time after that.

I was a maid at the Holiday Inn for a couple of days while on summer break from college. My best friend and I started together and both of us quit the next day.

What was so bad about it. I'd have kept the job, found an empty room and slept through my shift. When it was time to go home, I'd have got up, made the bed, cleaned the room and picked up my check!! lol Just kidding. Thanks for sharing, but tell us what was so bad about working there. Please.

Well it was pretty nasty in some of the rooms. It was also pretty hard work. Everything had to be perfect. The biggest thing I didn't like was the lady who was training us. She was kind of obnoxious and perhaps a little psycho.

Disconnecting electric service for delinquent consumers is a risky job, most of them get angry with you because you disconnect their electric service. In some place consumers are cool. But in shanty area is different. Most of them are drunkard.

lol exactly you have your nice people that will sit there and understand the type of job you have and then you have your nasty people that will sit there and automatically assume that you could come and get the job done when they want it but sometimes it doesn't work like that!

sorry to hear that, i know that must of been a rough time for you! i completely understand how you feel cause i had a similiar job like that, they refused to pay me more cause they were to cheap! so i quit on them and i screwed them over, i had there company closed down and now the people who use to work there they make more money and they get benefits with the new company that moved there!

Worst job I've ever had was in the laundry room at the local hospital. You had to be there at 5 am, mess with huge piles of dirty, bloody, awful laundry to send out. Folded tons of sheets and towels and then you had to push the laundry carts all over the place. I didn't last long. :)

I know that feeling, im a home health aide and i worked with all kind of people already and its disgusting when you have to clean up after females while they got there period and everything! Now i just work with senior citizens its almost the same but its not as bad! I rather deal with seniors cause they are fun to be around well thats if you get lucky enough to work with the nice ones!

I worked a telemarketing job when I was 18. When people hung up on me I'd call them right back and tell them "HEY! I have two wives and three children to support! All I'm trying to do is make a living!" Some of them would acquiesce and set an appointment with me! Most would just hang up on me again! lol

That is a bad job you are right on that one. I guess for me it would be cleaning out a dog kennel that too was stinky. I lasted 3 days. and quit

Peeeeeeewwwwwwww! My mother raised poodles for 20 years...in a kennel converted in our garage. You'd think that would smell, but acutally, it was cleaner than many people's homes!

I give people credit that could work in a kennel and clean them out i have a dog and i could just barely clean up after her when she goes to the bathroom outside! But I do it cause she is my responsability cause I wouldn't want anyone walking in dog poop and then coming into my house!

I guess the grossest job that I ever had would be when I worked on a dairy farm. Like you, I had wash the cow's udders off before they were to be milked. These cow udders usually had lots of dirt on them and then they would sometimes poop while you were washing them at get it all over you. The grossest part was when we had to clean the holding stall that they stayed in, because we used recycled sewege water from the cows to clean it. It was like hooked up to a pressure washer.

lol wow that is pretty gross! i give you credit for doing a job like that! but hey when you need money coming in and a job then you would do it until you find something better thats my theory!

My worse job was last summer. I worked in a print shop as a pressman's assistant. More commonly known as a pressman's um...b word...just to keep me from getting in trouble on here. Anyways, I stood at the end of the press and waited for these huge posters...they were like for elections..come to the end and then I would stack them evenly on a forklift. This job was nightshift. I worked from 4 in the afternoon until 5 in the morning. The posters smelled so bad, between the cardboard and the ink. Oh, the ink was the worse! I would go home smelling like it and it would be all over me. I would have to scrub for like an hour just to get enough of it off so it wouldn't get in the bed. I think I could still smell that ink on me a month after I quit. It was horrible.

Oh man, the worst job I have ever had I just recently quit. My boss only came to work 2 days a week and didn't want to do anything while she was there. She would push everything off on to me and another girl. I had to do the job of 3 different people and I could not keep up. She knew I was overwhelmed and did not care. She had no idea what I was working on during the day. She didn't even know how I did my job. She was so rude and was spreading the worst rumors about people. The other girls at work kiss her butt to keep on her good side. As long as you are on her good side she is your best friend. If you don't agree with something she says she hates you. I would get sick to my stomach every morning before work and couldn't enjoy my weekends because I would be stressing the whole time about monday. She freaked out when I left and wouldn't talk to me. She acts like she is still in highschool. I am just so glad to be away from her. I have a great job now and I am so happy.

wow that is pretty yuk job! I've never really had a bad job (well ok maybe when I was a maid) - had many that I didn't like but was glad to have never the less. And as I look at today's economy, young adults, I appreciate all of those jobs I was made to go out and get which molded me into what I feel to be a worth while contributor to society.

I worked at McDonalds briefly while I was in high school. What a nightmare that was! Not only did I have to deal with the grease and the rude customers, but I had a manager who was on a total power trip. She just liked having control over people and would order us to do the stupidest things. She always gave people the worst schedules and we always wound up trading shifts around to sort things out ourselves. She'd have cashiers doing clean up while the janitor sat on his butt and talked on the phone. I finally quit because she wouldn't let me go home one day despite the fact that I was running a fever and nauseous. That's one decision I will never regret!

today is my first job ever in my life but tomorrow's i'm not coming back to it. you know why, i hate it. i never thought that transcribing could be that hell, heller than hell, even satan would hate it!!! i should tell you the story, i know i'm sort of ranting, but i want to tell it. the schedule given to me through phone call from the boss was 9 hrs, 8am to 5pm. when i got in the office this morning, i didn't get to sign the contract because the boss was out of town, and still i was assigned to finish a job that's why i had to take my time until 9pm. you could imagine, i was teary-eyed while transcribing those voice documents, and it was a 30-minute voice document considering the slang accent which wasted my whole time rewinding and correcting stuffs. on my way home, i couldn't kept myself, i swear i cried a bit, which i know is really ridiculous. i just realized it's not the job that i want. i'm glad my mother is supportive of my decision to leave the job. fortunately, there would be no problem because i haven't signed the contract yet. but i really swear, i got a headache after that. not only would a transcriber in that office worsen his eye sight, but his hearing as well. O_x I'm seeking a job to make money, not to put myself into sickness.
