I wish I had the option to stay home to work more with my kids but I am a single mom and that is not an option for me. Also that is another big factor in all this. There are more single parents that have no option but to work and place their children in a daycare facility. They dont get the option to be the biggest role model in the childs life.

I have children that can be rude at times and dont have the best of manners all the time. I dont think its right in saying its the parents fault because we cant discipline our children like our parents could us. The drill it in their heads in school that if your parents smacks you they can call the police. People go way overboard with what they call abuse. I spank my children even though most people think its aweful to do. I make my children say please and thank you and sometimes they even do it without being told. Most children do act up more at someone elses home as apposed to their own home though.

yes many factors control the culture of children, not only parents, like school,friends,etc.... children learn more from outside world...but yes vital responsibility still lies on parents...i feel.....

i think they are ok when alone...but if there's a few friends there, they can tend to get out of control!! i was in a shopping complex and it's so irritating when those children come running everywhere and shouting so loudly....it's so annoying!

Reminds you of the old saying: "In MY day..." Well yes, in my day (which really was only a very short time ago!) kids were better behaved. I see more small children acting up and speaking back to their parents. OMG if I had ever spoken to my parents like that I would have had my backside smacked so hard I wouldn't have been able to sit down for a week!

As someone else said, a lot of it depends on the parents, and what they'll let their kids get away with. It seems to me that there's a lot of parents nowadays that to a certain point can't be bothered telling their children off - it's easier to tune the noise, disturbance etc out, than taking the time to explain why doing whatever it is the child is doing is wrong. I have three kids and while at times they can be absolute shockers here at home - I'm constantly having neighbours etc tell me how nice, well mannered/behaved they are, because my kids take the time to say hello or offer help if they need it. Yes mine are probably a little older than what you're actually implying in this topic, but still, right from a young age they've been taught what's right and wrong, and aside from what can be considered normal childhood behaviour they've always been pretty good kids.

the point u refer abt not telling all things is significant one....but i think that parents might be thinking that this is not the right time to tell or whatsoever ....also kids as i say learn from not only parents but also many other factors.... thanks for contributing

I agree. But it is all in the up bringing, As far as being rude. I also agree that they are also more clever and advance then we all used to be.
