At what time in the evening is it TOO LATE to telephone someone? What do you do when you receive a call past that time?

If I can still answer it, why not. But if I'm too sleepy to get up and answer it, I'd just say sorry when I get the chance talk'n to that person who called me. Calling someone cp to cp though is different, because I was thinking just to leave a voice mail.

It's hard to say because people have different work schedules. I know I don't call people before 10AM on a Sunday unless it's absolutely necessary. I don't really like to get calls on weeknights after 10PM. Once, my phone number was accidentally given out on a nationwide news press conference about the Hurricane Katrina situation. I went to the store for an hour, came back and had 137 voicemail messages! Luckily I was able to get a hold of the news organization and tell them they were giving out the wrong number. I could tell whenever they showed re-runs of the press conference because my phone would go nuts.

If it is close to 10 at night and the phone rings, I get a little nervous about answering it. One night I got a call at 11:30, I answered it and there was a drunken voice looking for my son. I said, I am sleeping, he is not here and hung up. The nervy baaaaaastard, called back. He said I was rude to hang up on him.....I said think that was rude, I said "f**k you" and hung the phone up.

Oh, I can identify with that. I had a teenage girl call for my son one night at 2am!!! Talk about a rude conversation. I gave her an earful and she had the nerve to talk back to me!!! I got so mad, I have no idea what I even said to her, but I assure you it wasn't nice and it wasn't something you could repeat in church! LOL

I always get a little rattled when someone calls past like 9:30p.m. I always think its going to be very bad news if the phone rings past then. I get all worried.

I try not to call anyone too much after 9p.m. If it's my family, we know each others schedules and call accordingly. If it's an incoming call, we don't even answer the phone unless we recognize the name or number on the caller id. I even got a phone call from a bill collector on a sunday morning once! What nerve! or maybe it was a telemarketer...can't remember.

Thank goodness for caller ID. I don't know what I'd do without it!

10 pm i guess is the latest that you should call someone. if it is after 10 i generally dont pick up my phone and let the answering machine do the talking. if it is someone important then i guess i would pick it up

I will only call that someone only during emergency or when I know that he does not sleep that early, I won't do that when I'm bored or something. I won't complain when I receive late calls, I will ask if it is urgent, if it is not, I will tell them that I'm asleep and call them back when I wake up. And if I'm really tired, I will switch off the phone just in case it rings and disturb my rest again.

At 10:00 so when someone call I just tell that person that it's impolite to call at that kind of hour unless it's an emergency.

I use caller ID and do not answer calls that I do not want to, anytime of the night. For me, after about 8:30 you better not call me unless you are family or close friends.

People who know me know I usually stay up late except on nights I have to go to work early, but a call after 10 is usually bad form. You just think it is probably an emergency when you get those. We depend on our caller id for most phone calls, anyway...if we don't recognize the caller, we don't answer the phone. It certainly cuts down on solicitors or junk phone calls wanting money or some such thing. I wouldn't call anyone after 9 or 9:00 unless I knew them well enough to know they wouldn't mind the call.

As a mum of young kids and my friends have kids our limit is 8.30pm. Singles calling singles it would depend on their work coomittments. Family to family depends on the ages in household. If they have young kids or elderly 8.30

Unless I'm expecting a call about 9pm, especially if its business. That last hour before bed is when I try to relax - that's if the kids have given up bugging me, whichis unusual - still one running around now 9.15pm. If I get a call really late 11pm plus I panic and run to the phone because I think there must be something wrong.

Anytime after 9:00 is too late. Everyone is basically in bed or settling down to relax. I hate when telemarketers call that late at night. Sometimes friends call that late, but it's ok cause friends can help you relax, and most of my friends are busy until that late.

I hate when people call me after 9 pm on my house phone, because my son is asleep by then and it wakes him. I have told a few telemarkerters off when they did this.

I think that 8-9 o'clock is much too late to call anyone at home. And especially to harrass them about a bill or something else really petty. I tell them this past the time to call me, I'm busy, sleeping or just LOOSE it if it is really late!!!
