I have met some wonderful people in the gourd art community. I've been to two gourd festivals this year and I've been out to the Welburn gourd farm a number of times. I like to go on opening weekend when the new crop comes out and again when they have their 50% off sale.

I just bought a gourd domain over at http://www.gourdmania.com. It's not up and running quite yet. So for now I'll share things over on mylot about this fascinating hobby.

My greataunt did some wonderful paintings on gourds. She was so talented. She also painted on tree fungus too. I remember one that she did with horses in a field. My mother had this piece for years. I am not sure what happened to it. My mother now paints, maybe she can take up where my greataunt left off.
