indian Politics of Corruption

Politicians have made a mockery of the Supreme Court and this is clear from what is happening in Delhi. The Delhi government in the first place allowed shops to come up in residential areas against laws. All government officers and politicians made money in allowing illegal shops to operate for years and the illegality is so large that it is now beyond the control of government to shut shops. Moreover the corruption money runs into a few hundred crores which the politicians and government officials are pocketing every year. The government is citing the delicate law and order situation in its bid to secure relief for traders. The Supreme Court meanwhile does not have means to get its orders implemented. It has to depend on the administration for the purpose of implementation. It is very clear that if the judiciary does not fall in line with the government's line of thinking, the orders will not be implemented. The message is clear- take illegal activities to such a level that there is no option left but to legalise the same. Government officials who failed to perform their duties and instead encouraged illegal activities should be penalised to avoid such a situation in future.
