President Chavez vs President Bush - Who is the Devil?

United States
September 21, 2006 11:10am CST
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called USA President George Bush the devil. Yet he wants to do business in the USA. Is the USA going soft to allow such insults to our leader? Is Chavez right? Would this happen in your country without an uprising? Should Americans buy his oil?

Bush = Bush Chavez = Chavez The Devil = The Devil Hitler = Hitler I think everyone goes overboard making these comparisons and characterizations that are overzealous and designed to get media attention. They won't change any minds, just make those who already believe this way take notice and make those who don't angry.

Usually it's someone in the media getting that media attention LOL. They make up their own phrases and toss them around. This time it happened to be Chavez who is well versed in how to use the media for his own purpose. You have to admit, it worked. We are talking about it months later.

The worst thing, to me, is how he got cheers and applause. I'm hoping however this can tell folks "say, that USA must not be so bad [such a devil] if they guarantee free speech to thAt degree!"

Thank you. The USA guarantees freedom of speech to everyone, but I felt bad that Chavez was applauded for his comments. In families there is usually a code of ethics that states "I can say what I want about anyone in my family, but no one outside the family can." Obviously, Americans do not practice this. We not only allow them to say what they want about us, we applaud them for saying it. To me, that is sad.

Chavez is a great gift to the world. 450,000 civilians were killed in Iraq after invasion (Todays news). What is your comment? Chavez was right or wrong?

Your handle says it all. There is no black and white. "I Agree BUT". Let us look at ALL of the facts, not just the headlines. Look at ALL of Chavez's acts - his good and bad. Does he promote himself while he is doing his good deeds? Is he trying to become the next world leader? Who is really responsible for ALL of those deaths in Iraq? Who REALLY killed ALL of those civilians? Did I hear something about civil war in Iraq? Excuse me?

And Hurricane Hugo who conducted raids on Jewish schools is a saint? Don't you think this is only a man who is trying to promote himself to a world power?

president bush is the most evil. Chavez has stopped America to ruin Venezuela. Main motive of Bush is to capture the world but it is not possible and you can see that in his own country Bush is now cornered. Hugo Chavez is a great leader. America needs oil and Venezuela has it. So simple business. Give and take.

Definitely because they can always get buyers for their oil, so why allow a bluff go into the way of a lucrative business. That's what he demonstrated that his country doesn't need American business. He is best friends with America's top enemies like Castro, the Iranians and so on. Don't forget it's oil that is running in Chavez's vein like Sadam!

Thank you for your response. Do you think Mr. Chavez is trying to form an alliance to go against the US, Europe and Israel sometimes in the future?

I cannot tell from your response if you are saying you think Mr. Bush is or is not the devil, or, if you are asking my opinion. Please clarify. I do not think President Bush is the devil. I think he has bad advisers and he has made bad decisions.
