If you read about the fall of Rome you might see some parallels.Every empire reaches a peak and then begins the downward slide. This is marked by break downs in the internal infrastructure and disintegration of social services, corruption in most levels of government to the extent where there is no longer any momentum to enact beneficial change, inertia having set in. The empire's foreign pollicies become more and more destructive towards its colonies and satelites in order to prop up its own failing economy. The polarisation of the rich and poor will become even more intense and in order to combat the ensuing anarchy it will become even more of a police state. 10 years isn't really a long time but in these days of such rapid change the US could well slide a very long way indeed.Woe betide the rest of the world!

I get a bad feeling sometimes.. when I think of our political bickering and thus misinformation.. and so much depends on the views of the newspapers and media.. and they are so linked in the world, which is all going toward anti-americanis,, yet america is the only country trying to slow down terrorists or madmen getting weapons of mass destroying - biological, chemical and nuclear. While our parties bicker..
