I have had chicken pox twice in my life. Chicken pox really isn't that bad. Well unless you are really old or really young. They have a vaccine for chicken pox now. So if you are really worried about it then you should talk to your doctor.

I'm 31 and haven't had them yet. Never hope to. But I've heard you can get them up to three times....Crazy. I guess it depends on your immune system. ?????

Is it true that everyone has to have chicken pox at least once in their lifetime? That is not true, if you were not exposed to anyone who have chicken pox then you may not get it, if you had been exposed well it depends in your immuno system, if you are vaccinated for the chicken pox there you maybe safe. If you had a chicken pox once, you might be immune already but if your resistance is low, you might have it again. Don't be scared if ever you got one, just be aware and keep informative on how to prevent and treat it. If you don't have much information about chicken pox, then you might be scared as you are not prepared. Keep fit, have balance diet and be healthy for strong resistance against any illnesses.

chicken pox can be avoided through the vaccine... but my baby's doctor said that elderly people can have it again (the doctor calls is stage 2 of chicken pox.., the medical term is herpes something... can't remember it) specially if they had chicken pox early in life. elderly people should avoid people with chicken pox. the doctor said its more painful and hard to treat if they get it.

thanks to medical breakthroughs, not everyone will get chicken pox. there are vaccines now that would protect kids/adults from acquiring chicken pox, and, even if one does get it after having taken the vaccine, chances are the symptoms will be a lot lesser. but, really, chicken pox isn't that dreadful. sure, it may be very itchy, and you'd flu-like symptoms, and yes, blisters, but bed rest and perhaps, anti-itching creams, will relieve you.

You don't have to have them, it's just that usually we end up getting it when we're kids. I remember when I got it, I knew I had it, woke up in the middle of the night scratching real bad. Got up, had them EVERYWHERE lol. On my gums, tongue, throat, privates lol. It wasn't bad, but I did get to stay home from school for 2 weeks-which really was kinda boring. Usually it's not bad when you get them, but better when you're younger, but not too young like a toddler. They do have a vaccine for it now, but like I said, it's generally not that bad for people to have the disease.

If you haven't had chicken pox by now, I would look into getting a vaccine. If you get a mild case when you are little you can get them again. The older you are when you get them, the worse it is. I had a teacher who got chicken pox and he ended up in the hospital. I had them when I was 16 and they were pretty bad. They were everywhere including in my throat. I couldn't even swallow water to drink!

I don't think everyone has to have chicken pox at least once in their lives. If you are lucky enough not to be infected by the virus I don't think you will ever get it. But like someone already mentioned, if you are really scared then get the jab to prevent it. I got it in when I was younger and I got it bad. Those people who were 'lucky' to catch a glimpse of me then would have thought that I was suffering from severe acne all over the body. As for the scars, although most of it did not leave any but those that did are there forever. I hope you will never get it.
