Why wouldn't a married woman want to change her last name?

Where I live, a woman is not legally allowed to change her last name when she marries. Your given name at birth remains your legal name throughout your life (this legislation came into effect in 1981). You can take your husband's name socially but for anything related to government, health care, etc., you cannot use his name. It does cause some trouble for the older generation of women such as when they are hospitalized and those calling to inquire about their condition do not know their maiden name... they can't always find them in the hospital records, without quite a search, and that can be really upsetting.

Well, if it were me my reason would be because my family name means alot to me.. it came from my father. there isnt many in the family with that last name.. my father passed away and he was a big part of my life so keeping that name is special to me... for someone else it could be because they are in a business where they are known for that name so maybe they dont want to change it for that... other than that I have no clue...
