The day after Christmas (or sometimes any special holiday) is called boxing day. I know there's a history behind it about boxing matches usually held during those days but now, I guess it's called like that because people are usually knocked out on those days because of the busy and tiring holiday before that day.

Apparantly there's a few different theories as to why it first started in England (and now carries through to a lot of commonwealth countries) but the main one is that is was for the lower class people (servants etc)to have a day off as they had to work on Christmas Day. Now of course it's just a big shopping day - where we realise that all we spent on Christmas can now be purchased for a fraction of the cost :-)

Back in the 80's they use to have a boxing match on boxing day, but now its just when all the shopping centers and shopping stores have there "sales" to get rid of old stock for the new year.
